What do you like about your game?
It was really fun making a game about reflecting lasers and all kinds of different reflections that have yet been tested

good implementation of the lasers, pretty fun, although more of a tech demo than a puzzle game, which is fine. I actually wonder if there is a cap to the difficulty of puzzles because it seems like it would always be straightforward to solve any mirror puzzle like this with the singular mechanic.

a bunch of suggestions have already been mentioned (minimap, multi-coloured lasers, snapping)

I'd note multi-coloured lasers dont necessarily need a new mechanic, just do it for organization (although youd probably want a new mechanic)

A thing to experiment with would be remotely controlling the laser from anywhere (i have no idea if this would feel good or not but it would save some tedium. Also I think you could probably get away with lasers always firing, no need to toggle on/off with the singular mechanic)

It is a step up from the mirror puzzles in mournings end part II on runescape lol.
grats on the release

Wow! First, let me thank you for the lengthy feedback! I really appreciate it!

For difficulty cap, I have some new mechanics in the works that I haven't had the chance to implement yet but I think it would increase the challenging factor. No spoilers for now xdd

I like the idea of having multiple coloured lasers. One of the future mechanics would be colour addition when crossing different coloured beams together to form a new colour.

The idea of remotely controlling a laser is interesting, and I might experiment with different controlling methods. Interesting suggestion of removing one additional input for firing lasers, I'll play around with it :D

Thanks for your constructive feedback!

Enjoyed playing with lazers, wish I could more easily move the lazers with persision.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I appreciate the feedback! I'll see if I can find an alternative solution to laser rotation in the next update.

nice concept, but I'm not a big fan of the fact that you get attached to objects automatically.

very cool, everybody likes a little laser

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You can press "C" to ignore snapping to objects but currently there's an issue when you overlap and leave the object and moved to another object you will snap to it again. I intend to iron out the snapping feature in a future update.

Thanks for playing! I appreciate it!

I liked the idea of the puzzle, although the way it is controlled is somewhat rough.

I've always thought that was a cool idea to make puzzle games around light and reflection and you did a very good job here. It would be nice to have either a zoom or map/minimap to have a global view on the level because it's a little bit tedious to go back and forth to see if the laser goes in the right direction. Level 4 was the hardest for me. When I had to combine both lasers, it was harder to see which one I should move because they are the same color so maybe introducing lasers of different colors could be nice And maybe even go crazy with color filters and additive color mixing puzzle, idk that could be cool :)

Also, it's a game jam, you don't need to lock levels that the player didn't reach. If someone wants to skip a level or closes your game and wants to come back later, it's nice if they can choose any level freely.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! The same coloured lasers were actually made that way so it would be kinda chaotic to manage the reflections and I think adding a zoom would definitely help see the reflections easier.  And yep I will definitely add a zoom / minimap feature in a future update since everyone's feedback is add this feature. I did intend to introduce different colour for different endpoints so like all green lasers would need to point to the green and all red coloured ones would need to point to the red one.

What a coincidence! The colour addition idea you've mentioned is actually one of the things that my friend had suggested to me to add in my future update for the game!

For the level locking, it's kind of a force of habit for me but I totally agree with you to keep all levels unlocked for the jam in order for people to experience the game fully without being progress locked. I will remember this for future builds. I really appreciate this feedback, it was really helpful! Thanks again!

Nice, clean laser puzzle, executed well. Reminds me of flash era games!

Thanks for playing! I'm glad that you've enjoyed it!

Great puzzle level! I like the laser system a lot.

I think seeing more of the level would be a great quality of life feature

Developer

Yep! I will be sure to add a zoom / minimap feature! Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it!

Puzzles were fun to solve, would play more of them. Also, sometimes I didn't quite understand if something is happening (with the green box). Feel like more feedback (visual or audio) would help with that

Developer(+1)

Ah, noted! I will find a way to provide feedback when the laser touches the green box. I have some additional mechanics created for this game that I didn't have time to include in this build so there will be 1 update coming.

If you want to you can join the discord to keep up with it! Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it!

Really satisfying, I'd play tons of levels like this. I would like a zoomed out camera or faster movement speed though, it was a little tedious having to slide over to see exactly where the laser ended up

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I've seen multiple feedbacks about a zoom feature, I'll definitely implement it in a future update! I have some additional mechanics made but I didn't include within this build so there definitely would be at least 1 update to the game coming.

Do join the discord if you want to keep up to date with the game. Again I appreciate the feedback! Thank you!

Great idea for a puzzle game. It may be helpful to include a built-in tutorial to explain the controls and some kind of audio/visual feedback for when an object is "possessed" or a change in pitch for when a laser is in contact with a mirror. Also, zooming out would make things more manageable for the player.

I liked the start menu and the level select screen. Need to include those for my games. I also noticed in the bottom left corner that it said "Lasers, Lasers, Lasers" which made it seem like you were excited about lasers which in turn got me excited about lasers.

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah, I think I'll have like a text showing whether if you're locked onto an object. I've also seen another person mentioning about zooming in or out, I'll include it or maybe I'll implement a minimap feature. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! Also,

Lasers!

I enjoyed playing this - I like this sort of game :)

It would be better if you added a zoom feature, so you could see more of the level. In many cases I found that I was moving the mirrors and not knowing if they'd hit my wanted target or not...

Still, great work!

Developer(+1)

Oh yeah, I didn't think of that! Thanks for the feedback :D

I enjoy the puzzle, most challenging is level 3, I able to figure out by accident when turning the  middle mirror   XD

I suggest:

  1.  have a mini map to know what going on at another side.
  2. Able to move thought wall as level 5 is long way and difficult walk around when I look through the map.
  3. Able to attach back after detach without move away.
  4. Have an indication when laser is pointing to goal.
