This jam is now over. It ran from 2022-04-30 21:00:00 to 2022-05-05 21:00:00. View 1 entry
The team is full. I am not accepting any more members.
Welcome.
I've decided to host a basic and casual, one-team game jam. Friends and strangers all may join.
There will be no competition, no prizes, no voting. This jam's purpose is to make a game together, and that's it.
Hopefully, I'll also make new friends.
The game will be non-commercial for the duration of the jam. If the team would like it, it could - after the jam - be improved, polished and made commercial.
Discord server (The place to apply at and the team chat): https://discord.gg/PmeXfFUvHc
Joining this Discord server is essential, as this is where we will primarly communicate and organize everything.
The theme
There's no theme. The plans for the game will be decided once the team has been established. The game would probably be based on the team's skills and preferences.
The Team
Only 5 people may enter the team, along with me. With me, that makes a 6-person team. I will personally choose who will join, if there's more than 5 applicants.
Applications will take place in the Discord server mentioned above.
To those that might wonder where I draw a line, it's mostly when several people want the same role (such that there's not enough space for all of the people), and none of the people have been accepted by the time I've read the applications.
The team will consist of minimum:
- One game programmer.
- One artist.
- One sound designer (either a musician, or a sound-effect designer).
I would be glad to fill any of the roles, if needed.
The Design Choosers: 3 people will be selected by me to make the game's (non-visual) design choices. I will not be in the design chooser team, unless the teammates don't want to be in it.
The Game Engine
The team will choose what game engine to use.
While I'm only acquainted well enough with Unity and Godot, I'll be glad to have the team make games in any other game engine, be it Construct, Game Maker Studio, RPG Maker, Unreal Engine, really any engine.
Any Other Constraints?
Nope. The game could be 2D, 3D, or anything else we can think of, it could have a big narrative, maybe have 4 musicians participate in the making of a music-based game. Limitless.
In fact, if the team would agree, I could accept a game with adult themes, be it profanity, blood, sexually suggestive themes, etc.
Though, I will draw the line at some point, as I don't do well with those themes myself.
GitHub is advised, but unnecessary.
The Aftermath
No competition. No prizes. No voting. What will there be, then?
There will be new creator friends, hopefully.
There will be a game. I'd be more than glad to continue working on the game later on, after the jam ends.
And there will be the cliché and abstract game-dev experience points. Can't forget 'bout those.
There will not be much, frankly. I like that.
I'll be waiting. :)
