Cool 8-bit art! The street fight mechanic sounds like a blast. The random encounters are interesting. I love the King at the end, good ol' Bowser. Very cute adventure with a lot of fun aspects. Good job!

You nailed the vibe, though I’d appreciate a bit more contrast between the pages and the words. Fun setup overall, and the layout is very reminiscent of the way text might be displayed in a video game. Tres cool!
An intro page with your inspiration would help provide context to your submission. I have some guesses though! I really like the idea of street fights, where weapons will attract guards. The Kings shell shock ability is very fun! Great work, love the retro vibes!
I can't really tell what your inspiration is since you didn't include the paragraph explaining it. It's also a little unclear how you generate where the kobolds are or how you find them to stop them. It has so much cool elements that I could use in my game, but aren't necessarily clear how to use in this game.
I so want the next draft. These are some of the best random encounters I've read in the game jam so far. So much here to build upon and use. I want that next version.
This looks fun! The chase rules and the unarmed combat rules both land well, and the PDF and encounters have strong 8-bit vibes. Overall, I think this is solid work, so what follows are just nitpicks.
It’s a little unclear whether a character can jump-kick, combo, and throw an object all in the same turn. I assume the answer is no, but it might be worth stating explicitly. I also don’t think we ever get stats for the three artifacts, so GMs will have to invent those themselves.
The “directions” the kobolds give are a bit vague as well. If we had explicit hints, clever players might be able to locate the lair earlier than intended. Finally, I don’t think the PDF ever explicitly names its inspirations. River City Ransom for sure, and likely a Mario game as well. But i'm unsure on #3
Great work! You should be proud of this.
