Can you kill the enemies with the gun? I don't think I ever succeeded at that. It feels a little out of place. Feel like the game should be mostly stealth and gun should be powerful but causes enemies to hear you.
No, many monsters will run away if you shoot them with the pistol but they don't take damage. You can also use either the dart gun or pistol to shoot out lights.
