Really nice entry, brought back the memories of the old school games.
The sounds could need a little more work especially on sound levels, now they were quite loud and mismatched at places, but anyways a really solid entry. <3

thanks for checking it out :) sound is something i need to learn about and spend time with. is it a matter of somehow “normalizing” music/sound. ie, i have audacity, and i expect i can set a max volume somehow?

the one sound that’s bugging me is the little “thump” when landing. i normally dev on a 55” tv @ ~10 feet away. i’ve since tried the game on my desktop with a decent speaker system @ 2 feet away and it’s a different animal in some ways.

again, thanks for playing and the feedback. i’ll try to improve on all things “sound” going forward :)

Loudness Normalization is an effect that will level out your volume output to the same level like the -20db I suggested.
This way all of your sounds are the same level when played at the same volume setting so you can make them not too loud compared to other sounds.

Also what is notable is that the output volume should not be banging on the reds since when you play multiple sounds the mixer will overshoot and dampen and possibly break the sounds.
The Loudness Normalization IS the max volume setting ;)

That tele-rabbit and the sound it makes when it jump is so cute. The graphics are good and fits well in the game setting. It is short but fun.

If I may suggest, add a few seconds delay before start.
Like "3... 2... 1... GO!" that way we can at least become aware of the map structure in short time which compensates for map randomization each run.

Also, what is the point of changing the song whenever we clear the level? Is there an ending or something we can discover in the tower?

hi, AA, and thanks for the feedback.

i can appreciate the countdown idea. honestly, i wanted arrival to be disorienting while the player also knows exactly when they are porting in where they’ve triggered it. otherwise, if you meant a count-down to study the level, also cool but as this was originally for the 20” jam, i felt that time would/should count toward the “20 seconds of play” timer anyway.

meanwhile, the songs were linked to certain levels and a rare instance of consistency in the game. there’s nothing more to it than to match the variety in the game. the next update will make the music completely random where i hope to be adding additional graphics sets at some point and don’t want to add a song for each of those, so… :)

but, i do plan on expanding the game into a more standard one and your feedback will be applied toward that, for sure.

thanks for checking it out :)

Good game

Jam Host

Good evening! This game fits the theme well in my opinion. It really captures that platformer feel coupled with the sense of urgency the timer brings to get the key!

aww :( i liked the original comment ;)

regardless, thanks for confirming the game fits the theme, guys. the timer is short but this is what it felt like back in the day @ the arcade where i gladly handed over all of my quarters in record time :)
