Gameplay Instructions
Skylight is a virtual reality game which is aimed to be run by desktop Oculus VR supports, including HTC Vive, Oculus Rift 1&S, Quest 1&2 with Oculus link and air link services. The game is single-player supported. It requires more than 1.5m x 2.0m of a play area. Both left and right motion controller are must needed. You can select menu bars with a trigger button of the right hand controller.
Once played, an illuminating magpie breaks out of a cage. You have to guide the little one with your right hand controller, avoiding obstacles of various spaces to reach the place of the light. A panel on the left hand controller indicates life points left, scores and bonus multiplier according to a difficulty of the current game.
Hitting obstacles reduces points. To get more points, you have to get close to obstacles, taking risks. Controllers vibrates when you fly closely to obstacles, giving you more points without being hit.
The game play is simply like flying a paper plane. For efficiently playing the game, we strongly recommend you to move your entire body to avoid objects, not only by moving an arm.

The art style is beautiful. Moving the bird with my hand feels really nice. But I found some aspects of the gameplay unpleasant.
I found myself constantly getting slammed in the face by rocks. The main goal is to stop the bird from hitting objects but in doing so you sometimes have to put your face in front of a rock. Which doesn't help with motion sickness. Maybe my playspace was just too small.
I would turn this into more of a calming audiovisual experience, the bird movement feels really on point so I would focus on that and remove the hectic aspects. Performance-wise it worked perfectly on my Quest 2 via link.
Visuals are great, looks very nicely polished.
It was a pain to get to work on the Vive, but I manged it in the end. Probably more the Steam VR controller binding system's fault than the game's though. Gameplay was essentially like an endless runner, avoiding obstacles with your hand, simple but okay. Not too sure about the theme connection though. Also getting hit in the face with trees and things was somewhat uncomfortable.
I could see this type of thing work as almost like a somewhat interactive music experience, if the levels are designed to match specific songs. Maybe a future collaboration with a music artist would be interesting.
Very pretty art style! I tried to play with a Vive Pro via SteamVR and I wasn't able to. It required a new controller binding, but when I gave it one, I still wasn't able to play it unfortunately.
Hi, I've tried to play the game with the Valve Index, but it doesn't register my controllers (Valve Index Knuckles), so I couldn't get past the menu, but I have to admit, the main menu looked nice in VR!
The game's been tested with Vive and Oculus products but I couldn't check Index Knuckles compatibility as I don't have it. Some people said the index controller's button input mapping is not working in UE 4.27. I'll check this out ASAP. Thanks you for you report.
Yeah, don't worry. I've set up a few projects for Valve Index and I know that those controllers are a real pain to set up properly. It's just a shame that I couldn't play your game.
Awesome visuals! This would definitely play just as well without VR and on consoles, hopefully you decide to develop it further!
Very fun and cool idea.
Thanks you
We have played this game, really loved the graphics! Would love to see an even slower difficulty level than easy to have more time to look around and enjoy the view.
Thanks you for your feedback. Your advice of adding a slower sightseeing level would be also a great update!
Wish I had a VR headset so I could try this out, really like the art style!
I want to suggest you to have a Oculus Quest 2 someday. It's very affordable and functional.
Love the visuals on this. Bright yet not unreadable!
Thanks you!
I love your game too. The interactive implementation of acoustic musical instruments is also my research subject. I'm glad to see another good showcase created.
Too bad I don't have a VR setup anymore :(
I wish you have one. VR is very promising!
Looks stunning! well done.
Thanks a lot. This competition is awesome
Looks amazing! Gonna try it out tonight, great job!
Thanks you for the interest!
This looks beatiful! I'm charging my handset right now to play it ♥
Thanks for playing! By the way, I love your game submitted.
WOW! I think this game has most amazing visual aspects... I ain't got a VR goggle , it looks fun too however
Oculus Quest 2 is a very affordable VR device in the market. I wish you have one someday.
Thanks you!
WOOOOO!!!!! Very cool!
Many thanks!
