I’m a solo developer making a Game Boy Color-inspired RPG (authentic GBC aesthetic, top-down perspective, native 160×144) set among remote North Atlantic fishing villages: fog, dark sea, weathered saltbox houses, rocky coasts. The mood is lonely, windswept, and melancholic, with horror-adjacent vibes.
I’m hiring a senior pixel artist to help define the game’s visual identity and build a small set of highly polished initial assets for a pitch video.
Inspiration: tall tales of the sea. Moby-Dick, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Fisherman, The North Water. Stories with a deep reverence, respect, and fear of the sea.
References: Dredge (tone, vibes), Robert Eggers’ films (desaturated colors, natural-light palettes), Widow’s Bay (gloomy/spooky coastal).
