Surprisingly enjoyable and engaging!  Try making an entire party, the not-surviving-to-adulthood mechanic and just one defining event rolled on the table make for oddly compelling characters.

I would actually play a full game based around this, but I like historical realism as empathy with people from the past, and not "realism" as some sort of weird ableist agenda, so those people might be disappointed.
