#rules
Hello everyone! I hope you're all well.
As the game continues to be in development and testing, I've decided to update the rules for Defense and Vulnerability and Resistance. Shortly, a new Mortdrakon RPG Full SRD file with the updated rules will release. This in case we need to fix or change anything else.
For the time being, the rules changes will be listed here:
Vulnerability and Resistance
Wearing certain heavy armor will make a creature resistant to bladed weapons like daggers, swords, and axes, but vulnerable to blunt weapons like maces and morningstars. When a target is hit with a damage type they are resistant against, their Defense score is increased by 3 points, as if they had used the Defensive Stance talent. On the contrary, when a target is hit with a damage type they are vulnerable against, they take an additional 3 points of damage. Attacks dealt by a monster's natural claws or bites are never subject to resistance. No matter if vulnerable or resistant, the target’s Defense score is still subtracted from the amount of damage taken, unless its source comes from critical damage.
Defense
Your Defense score is the sum of all of your equipped armor protections. Before taking any damage to your HP total, you must first subtract your Defense score from the result of the damage rolled. The armor protection of shields and gauntlets are only applied when you wear the gauntlets and/or carry the shield in any of your hands. No PC can have more than 10 Defense, except when using the Defensive Stance talent.
For Example: A PC with a Defense score of 5 (Gambeson +2, Helmet +1, Shield +1, and Gauntlets +1) takes 2d8 damage from a longsword strike. The roll adds a sum of 7 damage. The PC’s Defense score is subtracted from the 7 damage (which is 5), resulting in total damage of 2 directly to the PC’s HP.
