#release
Hey Everyone!
I know it's a few days early, but I've had a good month of progress on my end, and I'm happy to share with you all the 0.4 release of Wild Harmonies! In addition, April 1st this fool (me) is releasing Wild Harmonies 0.5 to my patreon! Support there means a lot to me, and will allow me to continue commissioning Retro for new sprites! Speaking of new sprites, we've got our big green boy Balto in progress. Here's a preview of him!
The 0.4 demo is out for the public now. Here's what that entails:
What's new?
- Approx 15k new words to read between:
- Drellis' day 5; You'll get to go on a little adventure in town after fixing up your clothes. Should be a nice chill day with the half-elven lycanthrope.
- Trax's day 5; He's being temperamental again. I'll leave it at that.
- The UI has been updated! New text box, new quick menu buttons, and new font are all included.
- The first sound effect. The intro now has a thunderstorm background. v0.5 has the first actual song, which I've had composed for a while now and just not included.
What's fixed?
- Lots of bugs (ghost Aelfric, minor dialogue issues, and a decent amount of issues with things being shown in the wrong places.)
- Bugs found by patreon members/testers (That's right! The public build is more stable than the patreon build, but has less content.)
- There was an AI background image (icky!) that wormed it's way into production. That's been removed and replaced.
- As a note here, all backgrounds right now are temporary and will be replaced with real art when I have the funds to commission an artist.
- (Did I mention subbing to my patreon will help me get more art?) "Yes Remus, you said that already, now get back to the update!" (Right away!)
- An issue where selecting to make breakfast for the pack on day 2 would reset Trax's like counter. Should be easier to get on his route now if you were having trouble with that.
In my last update, I said I was opening a patreon for Wild Harmonies. I know I've mentioned it twice already in this update, but bear with me. My main goal with the patreon was to give myself the external motivation to get a true cadence going on the project. The experiment was a success, and I've now successfully made a monthly release three months in a row! (v0.3 in February, v0.4 in March, and v0.5 in April).
I've got plenty of ideas for where things are going, and a lot of story left to write. Next on the docket is Balto's and Trax's day 6 updates (0.6). Hopefully I'll have Balto's official sprite fully implemented by then too. Lots to look forward to in the coming months, and I'm so excited to share more of this story with everyone!
Until Next time!
