I have made three dozen of these already. Crazy! Here’s to me keeping it up.
But let’s get to the meatier parts. That’s what you all are here for, right? I’d say that the previous week was moderately productive for me. I am more or less keeping up with my plan of doing one girl and one non-girl event per week. Though I am leaning to come short more often than not. On the other hand, most events I am doing right now are generally longer than the ones we had at the beginning of the game. Some events being more than twice as long as the first few encounters with the girls (even after I did some reworks and made those a bit more robust). So, I would say I am more or less satisfied with my progress. Two out of five planned Katelyn’s events are completed, and I have also written Aisling’s fifth event. We are getting there.
I also keep coming back to the prefects’ baths, trying to rework their logic again and again. The previous rework made it much more dependent on your Luck stats, but I definitely overdid it. Most of the bad outcomes became almost inaccessible, and the good ones were encountered too often, so it was really difficult to balance them, except gating them behind really high checks. Also, with even moderately high Luck stats, baths became much more efficient than the normal Rest activity, making it almost redundant. With the current rework, Luck both has a deeper impact on the baths and at the same time allows you to keep the variety they provide. I think this is a more or less final version of the baths’ mechanic.
Another thing I noticed was that one of our faculty workers was extremely easy to miss. Even though Groundskeeper Lardbee was featured in two events and mentioned in two more, all of those were optional or House-specific, so many of you might’ve never seen or heard of him. Well, that will be somewhat remedied soon, as I’m adding another job where you can help Lardbee manage the school grounds and nearby woods and mountains. This will be my next priority, which will hopefully put his new sprite to good use.
