Today is a great day for sharing our first project: DICTIOTHERAPY.
We are very excited to be working on this, defining colors and assets. But long story short, here is the main story.
This is a puzzle game, where words are the key. Our protagonist can't remember/has distorted memories about certain relevant events in their life (these relevant events are still not defined, but we're hoping to have them done soon!).
Our protagonist goes to therapy, and the therapist listens to what they have to say and gives them certain comments. The therapist's comments appear in a bubble where some words are highlighted with a brighter color. When clicked, this words can be saved to a dictionary (our inventory) and be ready to be used. The goal of the game is to choose the precise words to then solve the puzzles in his mind.
In-game, we can go to our protagonist's mind and watch a collection of memories, both written in a diary or displayed on a wall with photos. Each memory has an anomaly, a distortion or a missing piece so that the player has to solve with the help of the words in the dictionary.
There is a limit to the words than can be added to the dictionary and not every word solves every puzzle (i.e., not every word you can save is useful to complete a level). There is a limit to the times you can fail using a word before the protagonist loses their mind.
By the time this devlog is published, we'll have made a Storyboard in a platform called Figma. These images below are some screencaptures of what the game interface is looking like so far.
Though, we're thinking of doing pixel art, so everything is subject to change.
As for the font, we still haven't chosen one.

Next week, we plan to deliver at least a simple view of one of our puzzles. This consists of a journal page with invisible ink, which can be solved by the word "hope" as seen in the picture above.
