So far all I have done is create my own sprite work for the player character, and one type of enemy. I will definitely be changing these and adding animations, regardless of how simple, but first I want to really lay the ground work for the game.
Scripting is hard, so I am trying my best to go through tutorials, but try not to just copy paste what they're doing and incorporate multiple strategies, and hopefully come up with a few of my own to create what I want.
This is post -1 because I have had this idea ever since I decided I wanted to download and learn godot. I want to create a vampire survivor like game, but where you have 1 active physical attack, 1 active spell, then random spells that automatically discharge as you progress. The runs should be 5 minutes, but if this game becomes playable and enjoyable past 5 minutes and I can find enough cool ways to mesh and morph spells together I may go for longer times like 10 minutes. The best part about vampire survivors is becoming a crazy and destructive force to be reckoned with with all of your crazy attack modifiers, and I don't think I could do much justice with just five minutes, which is why I want to add active attacks and spells so you can feel like you're doing something for five minutes.
I am definitely down to collaborate with anybody who is willing, whether it be on art, music, or even helping me clean up my scripts.
I am using this as a stepping stone to inspire me to finally write a book I've been working on for years. That main characters story, however, takes place 100's of years after this one. But the role that the Bastion (not the name of the character) plays is incredibly important.
