The game's title is not easy to live up to, finding a type that matches its uniqueness is a daunting task. The following are chosen from among 50 or so found online, all royalty free. To say the process wasn't easy would be an understatement.
For anyone who wants to vote, this is the perfect opporunity to shape and mold the project's future once again. A good, well chosen typeface can't be overstated. In our case, we want to convey mystery, chance, treasuring hunting, metal detecting, and the unexpected. We want anyone who sees the title screen or cover art to instantly recognize our game!
The following are an up close look at the candidates to choose from and what they represent:
This one gives a feeling of that classic western. Think of the gold rush of 1800's, that's the vibe this one may be giving off. It's a conservative choice.
This one's called "Mexcellent" and thought it stood out compared to other ones. It's got a gameshow feel. It's modern but more out there and prominent than the others. Choose this if you feel we should go for outlandish!
Giving off both a tech vibe and minecraftian future feel, this one's a futuristic version. It can elude to our game's tech upgrades. The blockiness speaks of the game's low poly but artsy nature.
This classic version is two in one! Choose this if you like a bit of romanticism with a sense of prosperity. The serifs on these make it flexible for many uses and upscales a sense of elegance.
This decorative version has both a 70's and 80's gameshow nostalgia along with a sense of prosperity to it. The large serifs at the ends elude to exhubrance. You can imagine this might go well with gold color. There's a hint of 1800's western style in there also.
This one screams "playful" as a handwritten font. If you like our game to be more on the cartoony and whimsical side this one's worth a voate. Its large, oblique, body makes it one of the easiest to read from afar even for UI.
This one's not official but it is one of my favorites. It has all the same tenets of what Candidate A offers but in a modern form. There's a chance this can win if enough people vote it but was taken off the table for being too simliar or rather not distinct enough from the others compared to Candidate B.
We also added Golf Karts! Display only for now...
Next week we'll declare a winner and once again update the game, screenshots, UI, and our devlog. Afterward comes the next phase: hunting and design guide. One is about making the game happen and expanding our metals table, the other is getting fancy with art direction.
A playable demo is close. For more details on what remains, check out our Task Tracker:

More to talk about but we'll leave it for next week. Until then, to be continued...
