Alpha 10 is out now!
BlacktraceA downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
I'm finally ready to release Alpha 10 of Blacktrace! In this version I focused on two things. First was bug fixing. There were a lot of small issues that were annoying me, so I made a list and fixed as many as I could.
The second part that I worked on was foliage and it's shader. To make the environment more engaging I thought plant interaction would be nice. Not only can you walk through them but also punch, shoot, explode or throw a knife at them.
Changes:
- New plants added that move when shot, punched or a character walks through it.
- Some plants are in a plant pot which can be destroyed, making the plant roll around.
- Added DOF effect when aiming which changes based on aim distance.
- Added aim inaccuracy when the AI is hit which slowly reduces so the player has a chance to kill first.
- Improved the camera collision checking so the camera shouldn't go half into the wall anymore.
- Disabled camera collision on some objects so the camera movement is smoother.
- Added dither fade to the door when close so that it's see through when obstructing the view.
- Added more room at the top of the stairs in the store scene so you can shoot from cover there.
- Blood decals no longer intersect with characters so they keep sticking to environment objects.
- Ammo counter now switches side when using C to switch aim side.
- Added a headroom check before ledgepulling so the character doesn't go through ceilings.
- Fixed AI issue when skipping intro making the AI slide around when robbing the store.
- Stealth kill can now only be triggered when the player is looking in the general direction of the AI.
- Fixed shadow issues in all scenes. Less chance of shadow acne.
- Reduced the muzzleflash light energy so it's less annoying.
- Window in the store scene can be climbed without breaking a window first.
- Moved project to Godot 3.5.1.
- Added grid decal that slowly expands and shrinks as an easter egg.
- Made AI drop their last weapon when robbing the safe so the player can pick it up.
- Increased the time that the AI is startled when hearing a sound or seeing the player.
- Made the outside light flicker and buzz at random intervals like it's malfunctioning.
- Added overbright when winning and monochromatic screen effect when losing.
- Many smaller bug fixes.
