So, my net is sort of back x3 It's alive, but it's extremely slow, haha. Nevertheless, I've managed to upload the new mini-update demo builds (at least I hope I've uploaded the correct ones that are the most recent versions!) I'll split this post into 2 parts again! 1 part about the update, the other about the final original vocal track's release :3
It's not exactly the type of update I was hoping to upload by this point >.< I was hoping to have added at least 1 or 2 more characters by now, along with continuing Castor/ia's route, but it is what it is I guess! I suppose at least I'm now able to show a better representation of how I hope for the game to look going forward :3
There's a little bit of new content in there since all the new choices have new dialogue + I attempted to take part of the continuation that I already have written for Castor/ia and add little bits of it in there to the sweet side of things in order to even out the length of play since the sinister side was always somewhat longer in previous versions.
You'll be able to tell which lines are new lines that weren't previously in the game by the fact that they're unvoiced x3
Anyways, here's what's changed!
Total UI overhaul
(title screen + most menus are different + text boxes have been tweaked, more fonts and UI SFX added)
More choices within the existing content
(some timed, some impact MC's personality, some impact Castor/ia's sanity)
The addition of a WIP personality system
(Kind or Cruel choices shape MC's personality later in the story)
Extension of certain parts of the sweet path to try and balance the length of the demo content when compared to the sinister path
Dead Ends/Bad Ends
More branches/paths that the demo ends on
Dev console is accessible to modify point values
(more on this when I get around to posting a walkthrough)
A small number of original BGM tracks
(the ones I've been releasing on YouTube)
A temporary music player that can be accessed from the main menu
(contains all original + asset pack tracks currently in-game)
New intro section
New backgrounds in some scenes + additional SFX
The opening poem is gone since it's no longer relevant
I've probably forgotten something x3 haha. And no doubt there are some bugs in there too! With my net being down, I was able to spend some time further tweaking things and managed to catch a few little bugs and typos in there, but I'm sure some remain. Now that there are so many more choices, it's really difficult to try and test everything, haha.
I feel like the new demo probably needs a guide now for all the content to be seen without spending ages trying to figure out how to get to it all! So I will make a walkthrough sometime next week when I get a chance :3 I'm too knackered and out of time to do it today, and I'm away at my last scream park event this weekend x3
The 6th and final original track to be released is a vocal track called You Don't Need Me. I hope for it to eventually become DD's opening theme if I ever reach a point where DD can have an opening video. It's by far my favourite track that I've managed to make so far :3
