Hi everyone! KoMa here to bring you our final prototypes on week 3! Now that we have these three prototypes id say its safe to think we are fully prepared to catch the bigger fish in the sea. The theme for the final prototype is nature, and that's actually quite a nice theme we believe. Working with an actual physical forest to fit the theme is what we chose could give us the best amount of flexibility in terms of mechanics as well, which would allow us to focus on getting some important mechanics down possibly for some ideas we have for the final project we are going to start! (which you should keep a look out for the big reveal)

My code most of the days didn't work actually, due to this, I had to retry way too many times. It was an amazing learning experience ! But due to those issues my prototype had to be simplified so that I could produce something by the end of the week. The mechanic i focused on was picking up. Where when you press a button AND hold the button it will simultaneously hold the object, once lifted off, the item drops at the same time, this is just for a little bit of difficulty to the game.
The player is based in a deep dark forest through first person view for a better feel of the experience, where the leaves cover the entre sky and no sun shines. The object is on the floor and can be carried and placed in any area of the map including on top of other objects or even more difficult places that can be achieved when the player jumps and tries to land the item before falling as the player itself cannot reach the area. It seems to be quite a fun mechanic that I will possibly use in the future, though there are a few errors, I will hopefully have those fixed in the coming weeks!

Since I took the advice for the first play test to make it easier for the player to tell if they are moving, the comments were appreciative of the changes I made, yet there was another complaint that I was acutely aware of, the changing of the camera angles was very buggy. When changing the camera angle from top to bottom it required only one button press, but to change the angle back, it took two separate presses as the code was quite poor. It took me most of the week but i figured out how to make it only one button press and make it seemless, and many of the play testers that had played before were very happy with the change.
For the theme of this week, nature, again, like last week, I took it literally and added trees and grass to my level outside the house. They are mainly used as decoration but i also use them as a level boarder, so you cant go passed them and skip a part of the level.
