I'm super sorry if you're following me on itch and are getting absolutely spammed with notifications from my account right now with all the updates I'm kinda having to post >.< That's one of the problems with launching 2 games at once, haha. I just figured that I would make a quick post here since one of the projects is related to Darling Duality :3
I'm not going to lie, I'm absolutely exhausted, haha. Once again, I've managed to overwork myself x3 Deciding to make 2 games in 1 month wasn't exactly the brightest idea, haha. But hear me out. On one hand, I felt a little guilty for even choosing to participate in Spooktober VN Jam this year because I knew it would mean putting DD's development on hold for the entire month, but on the other hand, I really didn't want to miss out if I could help it because it's my favourite jam of the year. So, in the end, I made a compromise with myself, haha.
I figured, if I can somehow make 1 of the projects related to DD in some way, then I won't feel quite so guilty about taking part in the jam! And so, I decided to create a project which is essentially a backstory for 2 characters that aren't yet in DD, but which I hope to add in the future :3 The project is here. It's called Dawn of the Damned.
Playing Dawn of the Damned won't be essential for understanding the 2 characters whenever they're eventually added. The same as playing DD isn't required to be able to understand what happens in Dawn of the Damned either. It's still a standalone game :3 It's more like if you happen to play both, then I guess you'll be able to appreciate both more maybe, haha.
I originally intended to make it possible to play through 2 different versions of DotD. Because, like the other characters in DD, I hoped to have both a female and male version of each character to choose from. However, it quickly became apparent in the first week of the jam that it wasn't going to be possible to do that within the time limit of the jam. It's just too much work what with having to have double the voice lines and sprites and stuff >.< And I needed to make sure I was still going to complete my other unrelated Spooktober project.
I may end up making an alternative version of DotD outside of the jam, or I may end up having it set in DD that Morgenröte is always female and Dämmerung is always male... It's undecided x3 We shall see what happens in the future! It's not really something I'm too concerned about right now because I haven't even managed to release Cana's route yet!!
Anyways, I also want to apologise to anyone who has emailed me, messaged me, or commented and not received a reply from me yet >.< I'm not ignoring anyone x3 I was just working crazy hard on the jam projects and hardly slept this month, let alone had time for anything else, haha. But now that the jam is finishing and the games are launched, I'll be sure to start replying over the weekend and into next week :3
Anyways, I hope you enjoy playing Dawn of the Damned and don't forget to check out The Graveyard Shift too for something completely different ^-^
As always, thank you all so much for your continued support! Have a happy spooky season :3
