i've been chipping away at this game on and off for a few months. i haven't gotten as much done as it feels like i have, but a start is a start.
the yearly dream diary jam will be starting once more in a few days, and i plan on participating once again this year by working on another new update for this game. they do allow you to include a bit of off-jam work in entries that are updates to previous submissions as long as you do the majority of the new content during the jam, but i had enough content ready here that it would just be ideal to get what i have currently out now so that i can start totally fresh for the jam itself.
thus, this update is VERY minor. it mainly involves adding extra polish to things and implementing a couple things i didn't get the chance to last jam. i think there are a few new areas, but they're pretty small. i'll expand on them for the jam update.
if you're hoping for a much more substantial update with any kind of noteworthy amount of new content, you'll have to wait until next month. of course i can't guarantee i'll actually manage to finish and release anything, but it will at least be my primary focus for the weeks it will take place, so a new update will at least be closer than not.
non-exhaustive changelog (because my memory isn't very good and i can't actually remember everything i've changed since last year very well...) :
-a couple misc bug/exploit fixes
-updated the "child" sprite to actually be in the same art style as all the other ones (that being said, i noticed right before exporting that there are some errors in the new sprite...i'll fix that later.)
-totally rearranged a few maps to hopefully be a little easier to navigate/more interesting
-a few more npcs give unique responses when you talk to them with different effects, namely various "someone else" forms
-completely overhauled the city & 3D maps to no longer be dogshit obvious effects of gamejam crunch-induced last minute desperation
-updated some of the art on the internet area
-handful of new smaller areas/maps that will be expanded upon in the future
-train cutscene now has updated art and is different depending on what effects are equipped (...one of them still doesnt have a unique one though.)
-modified dialogue in a few scenes to be less...heavy-handed
-a few new events have been added
-at least one npc portrait has received updated art
-changed up a couple bgm tracks
-new detail in the real-world house
-maybe more...? I think that's mostly it.
I...don't know how to make it not do that, sorry.
