Where do I begin with this one...
This was an interesting task to say the least. I really struggled with it to be completely transparent. When creating A Memoir; Addressed to Me, I didn't really know where to start. I felt a bit discouraged at first but eventually came around.
At first I didn't really know what I wanted this game to be about. I know I wanted to focus on the narrative of the game, as I'm a person who really likes to tell stories with my art and media. I eventually landed on something to do with memories, both good and bad. I drew from my experiences in life and decided that I wanted to tell a story that could make you laugh and cry all in one go.
With each "level" (map) within Memoir, there are multiple memories to be found, but they key ones used to progress are the core memories. These are significant memories that impact someone's life. This could be anything from beginning adulthood, to a death in the family.
Overall, the "memories" in the game are pretty open. A lot of them are suggested and not anything specific so that the player would be able to almost insert themselves into the game as the main character, which is something that I really like to do when playing other games; it gives it a bit more of a personal feel.
This was a good experience though. I was able to work with unity for the first time, and although frustrating, I learned a lot and came away with a new skill!
