While in the process of creating "Shrunk", I knew I wanted to follow through with an idea I had early on in the course. I felt the environment of giant bugs and little scientists fighting them off would be interesting to players and would introduce a sense of horror and enforce player imagination. I chose to base the game mechanics on those of "Lumen" as the basis of this game is also a combat game including character classes, weapons, and enemy classification.
I began the development process a bit confused as to what was expected to be produced in this assignment and felt overwhelmed reading the other SRDs as they were packed with loads of information. I had to take a few steps back while working on "Shrunk" and tried to focus on the basics of the game before expanding on the details. The slow but calculated approach I took on the development helped me produce an interesting experience without overwhelming the players with loads of information, making the game easy (I hope) to follow while allowing individual player expansion. I enjoyed creating the classes and enemy characteristics in my game as I got the chance to push my imagination, but my favourite part of the development was creating a specific feel for my game through graphics, fonts and colours introduced in the SRD.
I hope you enjoy playing Shrunk!
