New Textures, Lighting Engine, and Level Layouts

The Roamers
A downloadable game for Windows

Information

First and foremost, I would like to thank anyone who is spending the time to read this and or keep up with The Roamers project. I would like to say that while this is an update, I am holding off on posting it until I get a more stable build. I need to fix the lighting bugs and some of the door placement in the house has changed causing some (easy to fix, but nevertheless) errors. The update should be out in a few hours to a week depending. If you would like to support this project even more donations and feedback / criticism would be greatly apreciated. Now to the additions.

New Textures

Probably the biggest addition to this update is the texture changes. Some of these basic placeholder textures have been in the game since the start. Some of the textures I've added are as follows:

  • Player
  • Grass
  • Floortile
  • Wall Windows and Doorways Tileset
  • Lever

I'm also starting with the character animations (finally) its been long overdue and I have a sneak peek of the first one I'm working on, It's not done yet but I'm still gonna show it. The menu screen also has a darker feel to it thanks to the updated grass textures. See both screenshots below.

Lighting Engine

I added a Lighting Engine to the game made by Shiny Hoppip and also added a HUD toggle option (press H for that)

Here's what that stuff looks like:

Level Design / Layout

Im redesigning the house and area around it and adding props as well. I haven't started with this except for the walls in the house (for light testing) but these are the concept sketches:
