Hey everyone!! This is going to be the first devlog on Safety 3RD on itch.io
If you've played the game you know what is it about, driving. So I've spent a lot of time tweaking the car physics and handling to make it feel more approachable, fun and easier to wrap your head around.
Tires are more grippier, brakes brake harder, throttle is more responsive and steering no longer has any kind of delay so you can adjust as soon as your reflexes allow you.
But only working on scripts all day is not fun, so I took some of my free time to work on the visuals. First off, the car is no longer a knockoff of Halo's warthog (even though I personally love it), now it's a knockoff of a Land Rover Defender!!! (which I also love). I wanted to use an old 4x4 car for a long time and it's finally here, so I'm really interested in what your opinions are about it.
After making models and visual changes we have to go back to coding, and this time focus on a big task, the level editor and a way to share levels. This feature has taken most of the development time in the last 4-5 months, but the back-end is done and its in a playable state, so feel free to create your own levels and post the name here so others can play them! (This is due to the front-end not being so ready, so yeah, to play other people's levels you need the level's name). Having all the code needed already done, I decided that while I work on the remaining main levels of the game, I could make a Weekly Level thingy, and here we have it. So every week you'll have a new level to play (even on the demo version).
So please enjoy this update, as it's a big one that has taken a lot of time and effort to create!
