I've switched to a side-on perspective. Although ostensibly it's not as asthetically pleasing, it's far more functional from a gameplay perspective. It also facilitates local multiplayer without having to resort to split-screen.
Otherwise, I've been finessing player movement and generally fixing bugs all over the place.
I'd estimate that a playable demo build might be done by spring next year at this rate.
