Game design
Working on a project usually comes with many ideas, sacrifices and conforming to ever coming changes. Like many projects, Layers of Stardust started as a rough idea that started growing. The growth process came naturally as a personal development project which intertwined with the VN.
With the natural progression of feeling more comfortable with my art, writing, coding and game design, I started exploring new ideas, new platform, following the concept That if your dream doesn’t scare you, it’s not worth dreaming off.
And my dream both scares me and excites me as I have decided that my game and storytelling style outgrew the borders of the VN quite quickly. With my experience working for AAA class gaming studios, I couldn’t just compromise and create something less.
Therefore I have turned to Unreal 4, and slowly while still updating the ideas for the Renpy platform, I am working on redeveloping Layers of Stardust as an RPG storytelling experience rooted in classics like KOTOR or Neverwinter Nights or Baldurs Gate.
Unfortunately, you will have to wait, but working with a fantastic design platform like Unreal is much faster and more efficient than working with Renpy.
But, here are a few screenshots of the current process.
