This version was my third attempt at building a little environment. Unity and my computer did not get along. Things finally went right and I was finally able to finish my little story.
Things I was able to do:
- Got the FPS to work, changed the steps to sound like stepping on grass.
- Got the Skybox to work, turned out exactly how I wanted it to look.
- Got the soundtrack to work.
- Was able to attach sounds to objects.
- In general, I had a lot of the objects I wanted to have and had to improvise others by changing colors.
Things to work on:
- Not really happy with the color palette. I’d like to have a signature palette but haven’t found it yet.
- Would like to know how to make a hole in the ground. For science.
- Would like to have more “scenes” to fill in the story. There’s still a lot of empty space, but it kind of works with the story.
- Need to fix the capsule for my FPS controller. It’s still casting a shadow and may be too tall.
- Would like to allow player to enter the house and find more clues.
- Thinking about abstract textures so objects won’t seem so boring.
- Should there be a tag warning?
Stretch goals:
- Animate the sky.
- Allow player to pick up objects and inspect them.
- Would like to create hills, valleys, and caves.
