First off, I hope that everyone enjoyed their Halloween! I've gotten started on fixing some smaller issues from the vampire route. I'm rebalance few vampire skills to make them more useful and less buggy. For example, the "bat form" skill has been a headache to work on since it temporarily changes your character sprite into a bat.... sometimes. I also just don't see it as very useful in it's current form so that's a big one that's getting a change.
I have been mainly working on character sprites this week. As you can see in this first pic, the vampire hunter enemies have a new look that will be reflected in their artwork as well.
There are 4 varieties with 2 color swaps to identify their rank. A black uniform is the weakest level, while the ones wearing a maroon uniform are stronger, just like the boss of the vampire route.
Speaking of sprites, I have also created custom sprites for new villagers that will not only appear in this upcoming chapter, but will be used in a future update as well! These villager NPCs will be found in the area you will be tasked with going to, Humilem Village. You will once again be visiting the village that was once infested by vampires. However, just like the other towns we have had access to, the village has changed in the last 100 years. I will give you more information on the updated Humilem Village next week.
One last quick thing to mention is the introduction of more loot after each encounter. So, at the end of each fight, you are rewarded with gold and possibly vampire drops that are used to level up. I made this system with the intention of making each victory more exciting when an enemy drops an item that can permanently strengthen your character. I want to make each victory a bit more exciting by adding more valuable items that enemies can drop.
Now after defeating an enemy, you have a chance of receiving a gem shard or a whole gem. These gems vary in value, but all can be sold for some extra gold once you have access to selling items. Bosses drop gems as well and these drops are guaranteed, so that's more gold for you to manage however you like. I have plans to add other items that can be dropped by enemies in the future. For now, I hope you enjoy earning more rewards for battling enemies!
