This month I'll be getting ready the foundations for the relationship types system, as well as tuning the AI to make the Candidates make good use of it if there's enough time.
Relationship types are specific relations or agreements that make characters behave in specific ways, such as gaining extra experience from training together or being forced to obey each other in some instances. The first step is making characters able to move as groups in the map: upon agreement, one character will be following another and participating in all their actions.
Last week's work was focused in making it possible for the player to lead other characters (if you try following someone in the current version, things will likely get broken very fast), as well as fixing any error or potential issue that would came with it. While a good portion of the code was made with this in mind, there are many situations where the game wouldn't behave in a coherent way: what happens if a character A, who is following character B, invites C to have sex, but A is forced by B to remain in the group for a while? What happens if character A, who is following character B, is participating in a spellcasting training session, and character C asks A to follow them instead?
Most of these game logic issues are solved, and I'll soon get started on tweaking the UI to allow the player to follow other characters. After that, I'll be coding the relationship types logic, linking it to groups, and implement in-game methods for them to get started.
