Hey everyone here is update 5.31. The two big things in this build are the level 3 mini boss and key binding support. We have also been working on a lot of non gameplay things like controller support so the game is ready for its Steam release this summer!! A bunch of new sound stuff is in the works. We are really excited to show you more, the new sounds will be coming soon in update 5.4. Have Fun!

Visuals

  • (Mini)Boss door addons blend into the fog colour better
  • The players' aiming indicator stops when it hits a wall
  • Log (Coming Soon) removed from main menu

Audio

  • Some audio system changes have been put in place to prepare for future song features.
  • Long, trailing notes will no longer layer on top of one another
  • The player’s song now plays at 100 bpm between bouts of combat. Entering combat rooms will return the song to the old 120 bpm.
  • There is now a sound for picking up bits

Features

  • A new miniboss has been spotted in level 3 wreaking havoc!
  • Dodge is now bound to both space bar and the right mouse button by default
  • Pausing the game is now tied to both esc and tab, so you can pause in web builds without exiting fullscreen
  • Key bindings are now available in the options menu
  • Gamepad support took a big leap forward in this update, although there is still more work to be done.

Balance

  • Enemy health scaling dropped 10% between levels
  • Hive Worms spawn sooner in the Hive and Cross Turrets spawn later
  • Cross Turrets, Sappers and Snipers limited to 3 per room
  • Machine Gunner range reduced by 50%
  • Line Shooter shots spread
  • Each cycle of levels increases the range of enemy shots
  • Queen Bee’s swarmling projectiles have had their hit colliders adjusted to be more precise
  • Queen Bee’s swarm beams are more consistent and easier to predict. It is now impossible to have an unavoidable swarm beam pattern
  • The first two rooms of the first floor have a massively improved chance of dropping notes. It is now very unlikely to reach the third room of the game with fewer than 5 notes
  • Minibosses drop health instead of a note if the player is down to 1 health
  • Level 1’s minibosses start their laser attack further from the player so the laser will never appear on top of players that move towards the firing angle
  • Level 3’s bosses will accelerate when moving to prevent unavoidable damage

Bug Fixes

  • The audio changes listed above have fixed the audio issues that could occur in WebGL builds that could cause ‘sound overloads’
  • Queen Bee’s minions can no longer drop in outside the playable room area
  • Shops should no longer allow players to go over the note cap (24)
