Why yes, it is a generic title, but whaddeva'! Promises were consequently broken, and there were no signs of life for well over a month. The court is breathing down the Eradicator's neck.
Was there any progress made at all? Is the developer just a fatass who picks his nose all day? The truth is quite compelling, actually.
I was actively working on the next build of the game almost every day. I was concepting a ton of new ideas, many failed but got revamped, and many got sent to the cutting room floor. Implementing new features the way I designed them on the concept board also takes time and a ton of time gets wasted if a feature sadly doesn't make the cut. I was also working on improving a lot of the gameplay, the combat for example, I improved the overall weight and feel of every weapon, added extra functions and gameplay mechanics for combat.
I was also trying to understand what direction I wanna take with this game. Not only in a gameplay kind of way, altough that seems quite clear to me now. I'm talking more so about the art style of the game, I spent many restless nights concepting new texture styles, new animation styles, and new 3D model designs. I'm still quite unclear about what I wanna aim for.
Before I first started taking the development of this game seriously, before Alpha 1.0, I used to downscale images so they looked pixelated enough to sorta look like from very old games from the 90s (it's a trend I guess). The images I found on the internet posed quite a few problems, mostly because of copyright issues.
Then I started to hand-paint textures, I wasn't able to figure out how to put in details at the correct places because, to put it frankly, I was very inexperienced about texture painting. I continued to take the path of hand-painting textures till to this very day, but now I have another problem... what kind of art style do I want to use? I want something that looks gritty and gloomy, nothing too colourful, but also nothing too devoid of life. Something with a good amount of clearly visible details, but not too revealing. I thought, maybe just make something like in Half Life 2? Or maybe something like all the boomer shooters do? I'm so incredibly conflicted, and I hate to admit it but...
...the artstyle won't have a clear direction for a long time, but I will try to keep it as consistent as possible until I fully figure out the artstyle. Until then, I will give the game a slightly "pixelated feel..." to hide some of the ugly sides of every asset...
Yes? In the back? What's your question?
What about everything you worked on for the new version?
I wish to speak about all the new stuff in the upcoming version once it is actually released. I roughly estimate that the next version will come out in 1 to 2 months.
okay now until then, I will crawl back into my cave and continue what I do best... or worse...
