Now that the demo is released and I’ve spent some time improving my internal tools, it’s finally time to focus on visible (and hearable) updates to the game itself.
I already received my first piece of feedback regarding the soundtrack during pre-alpha testing:
“I like the music, but by level 4 it becomes a bit repetitive/annoying.”
Fair point — the demo currently uses only one track during gameplay.
So the first big task for this jam is adding more in-game music.
I have several new tracks prepared for Episode 1, but none of them fit the "robotic nightmare" atmosphere of the prologue. So I decided to revisit one of my older compositions. One track fits perfectly — and it even has an appropriate name: “System Failure.”

The plan is to rearrange and re-record it so that it matches the current soundtrack style.
Music To-Do List:
- Change the key (to fit the usable range for guitars), possibly lower the tempo a bit
- Shorten the intro and tighten the build-up
- Move the whole project from LMMS to Ardour (LMMS is great for quick MIDI drafting, but not intended for audio processing)
- Replace and upgrade instruments (better bass guitar, piano instead of harpsichord, my custom drumkit built using Hydrogen)
- Record guitar solos (likely skipping rhythm guitars to keep contrast with the existing track)
- Integrate the finished song into the prologue levels (this part should be easy with the current version of my custom engine)
I’ll continue posting progress during the jam — including previews of the rearranged track, screenshots of the DAW project.
