#update
Hey guys, I'm going to keep this brief since this update is pretty small, I'll put everything I added and then get to what I wanted to talk to you all about. It's nothing bad, just something I was considering for a couple months with this project;
- New skill - Analysis - This skill lets you see the enemies' stats and what their lust is at, which is pretty useful!
- Added Mend, the fox gives it to you after you talk to her after completing the first planet. (Go to chat when speaking to her)
- Fixed jobs - They now have a random event that determines the amount of money you receive and also some dialogue.
Okay so apart from that, I'll get to the point. I think I'm done with RPGM. It is so limiting for the game and I honestly can't add any menus or anything interactive without spending so much time to do it. I have had a bunch of issues with it, yeah it is easy to use but for someone who wants to add cool features and not have to jump through a bunch of hoops just for it to work sometimes, it really isn't good. I've used it for a little over a year now and it feels like I hit a wall. That's one of the main reasons I've been slowly adding less and less, I have ideas, but it's extremely difficult to do them in an engine that won't even let you. I'm grateful that I at least had a resource to learn game development without knowing coding, it's still a great tool for young people and people who just want to make a fun story, it's just that there's a part of me that really wants more. I think what I'm trying to say is that I am deeply considering switching to a new engine, I really do think that would improve the game for you guys and me developing it.
The engine I was looking into was Godot, it is a lot more complex than RPGM and you have to code, but it seems like you can make whatever you want in it. The coding language is similar to python, so it's not like learning a whole new language, it's something I'm kind of familiar with. The main concern with switching engines is that I would have to remake the entirety of the game, which would be tough at first, but I believe I could do it. I just hope that you all understand that I'm not killing the game or stopping, I just want it to be a better in every possible way. I'm going to experiment more with Godot; I'm still not 100% sure if I should swap but I think it would be beneficial.
I'm sorry that I rambled for a while, I hope you all have a great day and thank you for keeping up with this project for so long! I'm curious to see what you guys think I should do :/
