One little puzzle piece at a time—added building placement and build animations today. What do you guys think? Still a lot of polish to do IMO, but I'll focus on adding all the building blocks before that. Would love a voxel-based building animation; I'll revisit that in the future, but as a one-man project, maybe I should focus on getting something actually playable first :)
I might do Mars and Moon models for some (or most) buildings. On Mars, building design will have to differ a lot because of the dust, super-thin atmosphere, and trace amounts of oxygen. I'll do some research on this—want the game to be at least plausible. Most bases might be underground on most bodies, though. I kinda hesitate to implement multi-layered bases as there are so many aspects to consider, but we'll see... it's pretty cool, so I'm leaning that way :P
In the background, I'm thinking about and tinkering with the UI. I have an idea of what it might look like, but nothing concrete yet. Does anyone know any good space-related UIs for inspiration?
