So how exactly will this mesh the monster catching games with MMBN/MMSF ones? Well, battles, for example, will look like the ones in the latter series: you get dealt a hand of Glyphs (this game’s chips/cards), you choose a subset to play based on some restrictions and then the real-time part will begin, with you moving the character on the battlefield, using the skill you just picked in order. But where do those Glyphs come from?
In EctoGlyph, you will be able to catch the Geists you battle and add them to your team. Each Geist has four Glyphs and adding it to your roster effectively adds those four skills to your deck! On the virus busting side of the inspiration, this comes from MMSF3 where you weren’t able to mark cards in your deck as “free”, but rather had to “download” a predetermined set of four White Cards. As for the monster catching inspiration, I think it’s clear enough.
This mix of mechanics still leaves a bunch of questions to be answered:
As with everything else, the standard procedure of winging it and throwing things at the wall to see what sticks will be applied here. BTW, your HP will be the sum of all your Geists’ hit points.
You’ve met countless Progs and Hertzes along your journeys I’m sure, but now it’s finally time to meet…
Mr. Wisp and his-few-non-finalised-designs-and-prototypes! They’re the bread and butter of the Ecto World, both in how common they are and in taste.
Keep up the spirit~
