I'm disappointed in my experience with NiTW, after hearing how good it was from everyone else, but I wouldn't say it's a bad game by any means. It's a very slow game that mainly focuses on exploring the town and deciding which friends you want to connect with. Art and music are great.
The vibe is very much mid-western small town in America and "indie" young adults, written through a white lens and that aspect of white, American-centred privilege and ignorance to me as someone who's neither white nor American was off-putting. Much of the dialogue also feels like "this is what someone who's on social media 24/7 thinks that real conversations between grown adults sounds like".
