4301 Bitsy Games

Bitsy Project Description

Make sure to look at these Bitsy tutorials: Claire Morley's guide, Dan Cox's YouTube introduction, and Andrew Yolland on using variables.

Create a Bitsy game that adapts a small part of some piece of media you appreciate/enjoy (but don't adapt another game). You can tell a concrete story (like a scene from a movie) or abstract a feeling (like a part of a song). Bitsy creators do all sorts of rad things.

The game provides dialogue functions, which you should use but make sure the player is doing more than just reading a script. You should take advantage of the conditional dialogue feature. Players should be able to explore, interact with objects, and learn from the environment they are in. Your game should have at least four rooms—so use these rooms distinctly! You must also use at least one item.

Check out this Bitsy tutorial to get started. When you've finished your game, use the "download the game as an html file" option and upload it to your itch.io page before class on Thursday September 6th. Make sure the game is set to public, free, and that you're following me (wreckem.itch.io) so I see that it's been posted. When you post your game, please write a short (100 word max) artist's statement explaining what inspired your game and what you were trying to accomplish.

We will be sharing the games during class.
