psychological 30 minute visual novel piece that walks the reader through commonplace doubts that surround every one of us, told cleverly through adorable metaphors and witty devices. easily digestible but very poignant, it shows us how sharp we can be to ourselves, directly or indirectly, but also how we may foster that into real and actionable self-growth. shallow as it may be to some, this experience may genuinely help people realize themselves.

multiple endings, depending on how you treat the case. nicky case hit this one out of the park. maybe ill create some fanart of Anxiety, the dog

this is a FANTASTIC game for animal biologists and anyone else with an interest in the field! a fully fledged document chock full of field notes, preliminary descriptions, and lots of interesting speculation... but the magic of this game is letting the player fill in the rest of the gaps- putting them in the shoes of a xenobiologist and filling out standardized templates for undocumented species.

my exotic animals prof would've LOVED this.

not for certain people. lots of reading, lots of writing- sometimes it feels academic... for better or for worse.

a surprisingly empathetic and resonanting view of the disparity betwween intimacy and anonymity cleverly told under the backdrop of a solemn, lonely apocalypse where every last digital letter on a searingly contrasted terminal is squeezed for comfort and affection- cornerstones that make humans human, and life lived.

i cherished the writing. maybe i just strongly related to the couldnt-give-a-fuck attitude at the end of the world, where maybe someone wants to just unravel with a bang. the tonality is blunt, desperate, and sometimes confusing to everyone, and i'm strongly biased out of relation. not a stranger to the actions depicted either

given more time this could very well explore a lot more themes than the surface of which it scratches and picks at, bringing forth a trail of viscous storytelling AND characterization

actually an addicting game about navigating through filestructures and clicking shit really fast, with a good-enough standard of upgrades and enemy variety. stylistically very tasty too!

it's a typewriter simulator. you can load images or play calming asmr sounds. idk what else to say.

not a game. moreso an experience- you could get the same by watching a video, if not for the fact that you're allowed to look around in 3d google map renders which provides the setting for this strange endeavour.

data rot, organic rot, a collapsing entity and ever-increasing entropy...or something. watch as..something.. crumbles. someone wrote like an 11-page essay out of this 2 minute experience so im going to spare myself from the same fate.

definitely inspired by Memories of a Broken Dimension.

this is the one. this is THE typing game.

overcooked meets... uh... a typing tutor, i guess. all the frenetic ingredient-preparing, customer-prioritizing, micromanaging mayhem of overcooked... but EVERY action is performed by typing a word. surprisingly manageable for those with quick fingers, but if not, there's a difficulty slider that makes this game approachable for anyone.

the story is short and sweet too! really a gem of its genre

the gist is simple: manage both engines and the nav system while conserving power and your own physical wellbeing, cuz theres a bloodthirsty alien on board. the mechanics are all quite simple and honestly could have been developed into a full blown game! (i even drew up notes for a fkton of new devices, utilities, enemies, etc. inspired by this game years ago)

honestly a fab timekiller, altho if you know what you're doing it becomes a little too easy. still great fun

sidenote: it took me AGES to find this game again

okay so madness fangames are really either hit or miss, and this ones a hit for sure.

melee combat oriented! wow! physics based?!?! uhh, well it's not bad! it's certainly a steep learning curve but as all steep curves are, it feels GREAT to eventually get the hang of and master. and its madness; indulge in the killing, the gratification of blood splattered along your body. yippeee!

i already wrote a long ass comment about this game and i feel like copypasting it here would seem like a cop out, but at the same time i really dont wanna write another long ass comment so ill just keep it brief

this is thematically a great puzzle game, but some segments require a really quick typing hand. if you arent one of those you can always SKIP a level but i feel like the whole thing should be done legit.

anyway, the graphics are (obviously) basic but also charming as there are some things done in strange and unique ways with what little there is. the characters are... well, they definitely feel alive, but kind of like caricatures ig.

but we're all here to see what the gameplay is like. well its a puzzle game so you oughta do a lot of thinkin. the progression is very well paced and it makes sure to introduce you to new mechanics before seamlessly integrating them into later puzzles, and there;s always something new along the line.

i liked it. some may not and i could see why. give it a go anyway

do yourself a favour and play this game WITHOUT looking up anything about it. and preferably in the dark. it sounds corny but you will be in for an unforgettable experience.

this game is so fun bang bang shot gun, but actually its great

the abilities are all unique and interesting. enemies too. and it provides a nice challenge in a small package. the quick gameplay loop, snappy combat, layout and instant replayability kind of reminds me of downwell

to preface i didnt play this game, i played a very similar one (that this game takes inspiration from) called Mall Quest

but since they look so alike ill just put it here anyway.

mall quest is a very chill game about going around and buying stuff with your money. you have a shopping list of things you want but you can buy other stuff too, sometimes for fun, but others might augment you in some ways. watch out tho you could be mugged!

yeap thats it. i just remembered this from a half formed memory 5 years ago playing mallquest on a crap top in school

fun little game that makes you evaluate your stance on morality, namely what you consider to be right or wrong. they may be funny virtual people but they say real things: are you to decide where the line is drawn?

or if you're just like me, condemn those who piss you off to the fires of hell! a great stress reliever imho

honestly a genius concept executed quite well. explore the strange findings of a group that no longer exists. unsettling images lead to unsettling questions. the implications are there if you let them stick around, but for now, just enjoy these sweet backgrounds.

made me feel like i was digging through something i should not have been digging through. the dread was at times palpable for a variety of reasons. try it!

plays kind of like a survival horror and uses the element of the deep sea as a backdrop, mental instability is the name of the game here. still pretty cool though and i love the grungy aesthetic of worn down machines working through the abyssal night. it is pretty intense at times

yes this scratches my thalasso itch. explore cool weird funny structures in the water. and maybe get more than what you bargained for. p short and slow burn but worth it for those who love marine horror games

i barely remember playing this because the time between my playthru and this retrospective is like an entire half year, AND because the whole game felt like an insane fever dream

there are plenty of things to discover in cookies and some of them are frightening, but the majority is more or less a trip (haha) into a strange world where scum is the norm. it is in SOME ways a puzzler, and in SOME ways a horror, and in SOME ways a walking sim. but trying to fit it into any of these genres is doing it an immense disservice.

i implore people to try this for themselves, and if the first two hours dont click, then run and dont look back

i was hopelessly addicted to this game for a period of time

let me explain: it's signal simulator with a healthy dose of jank. but the good kind, the kind of jank you'd find in a beat up car that runs better than most modern-day sedans -- against all odds

the gameplay loop is immensely satisfying for two primary reasons: firstly, the method of earning cash is reasonable enough but there are methods to make it much more efficient and plenty of opportunities to scrape some more. secondly, human curiosity is an innate part of our nature and the process of analyzing and decoding a signal delivers in spades especially when you find something never meant to be seen by man.

and there are so many weird things that you can buy with your hard earned cash. many of them are silly toys and equipment that don't really serve an actual purpose, but they make the game feel so much more lively. a RC drone with camera, cases to hold your drives instead of scattering them everywhere, a WORKING television that plays direct links??

while there may not be much to do outside of this core gameplay loop, it just seems entrancing to always be on the next breakthrough of some unknown signal. sending it off to your colleges and reading their terrified reactions is a breath of fresh air too.

this game isnt even complete yet and i eagerly await more updates so i can become obsessed with VotV all over again

basically battleship overlayed in a grimy USSR aesthetic where the game is being played with dozens of human lives per "ship".

since i am an unintelligent specimen, i lost, but the game claims there is only one ending so it wouldnt have mattered if i won. there's a message to be said there but frankly it wasnt very impactful to me

i didnt think this game was anything special and unless you are a patron of the arts and find an overarching symbolization more important than actual gameplay, this one wont really offer you much

short but good game, puts the emphasis on "against the clock" as you chew fingernails and stare at the clock hoping your drill wont break down before SECURITY ARRIVES
