I went through the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality and made a collection of items that caught my eye!
IMPORTANT NOTE: With a few rare exceptions (which are noted in their blurbs!) I have not played *any* of the games in this collection at the time of adding them, these are specifically games that caught my eye.
(After I play/read/use everything here I'll be making a second collection which will be proper recommendations that I'll link below in this description).
It's beautiful and you get to hang out with mystical birbs also cool platforming stuff???
The Proton Slinger mechanic kind of reminds me of the skills in "Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia" except wayyy smoother
JRPG where the combat is speech! You can equip "Piercing Gaze" as a skill! I legitimately can't express how weird and cool this sounds to me!
Metroidvania, easy way to catch my attention, BUT ALSO a core aspect of this game is about whether or not to kill the bosses (which is how you get your abilities) and that's a really cool idea and I want to see how its executed
This is a really good TTRPG, and I can safely say that having literally only seen bits and pieces of it in passing. I'm excited to read the whole thing
The art style is pop-up book inspired, and the comedy is 110% my jam. Also, unlike the last time I did, when I pretend to be a doctor in this game there are no repercussions!
One of the testimonials is:
"I’m just gonna cut to the chase: The Hex is this year’s Frog Fractions, Undertale, or—perhaps most aptly, given that it’s from the same creator—Pony Island."
So, yeah, I have no idea what kind of wild ride this game is gonna be but I *really* want to know
Solo, co-op, and GMed gameplay options are a remarkably flexible combination, plus I've heard @EldritchCrow say good things about Ironsworn on Twitter and I value their opinion on game dev things so TIME TO READ
"Inspired by Paper Mario"
Alright, I'm in, on to the next game
It looks like Bleed, but with cleaner graphics
2D character action platformer, so Bayonetta if she was short
This game apparently only takes around 1 hour to play through, and it looks gorgeous and appears to have really neat worldbuilding, so yeah
Listen; There aren't enough TTRPGs in my life currently where flirting is a core part of the game. Also, from a game dev angle I'm very intrigued by the idea of an anthology game like this where it is built of 12 separate mini-games!
Pastel, Witches, and Computers. Together at last!
People tend to throw garbage (or worse) at me if I pretend to be a cat and destroy their homes, so playing this game seems like the best choice for everyone involved
This game looks to answer a question I didn't know I had in my heart; "What if Waterworld was a roguelike tactical rpg instead of an upsettingly uninteresting movie?"
It's a romantic dating sim filled to bursting with inclusivity and arcade aesthetics and if that doesn't make you HYPE AS FUCK then I'm sorry I'm going to have to call security and have them escort you out of six flags because you are clearly undercover fun police
In my waking life the ability to absorb the skills and powers of my enemies would be nigh-useless as all my enemies are politicians and/or internet trolls. In this game, though? It is a RADICAL ability!
I think this game will give me FUN similar to Dwarf Fortress, but easier on the eyes
Hi, I'm CJ and I have an obsession with Roguelikes. Also, if you didn't tell me otherwise? I would assume this game was from a Triple A studio.
Another game inspired by old Legend of Zelda games, but this time it's inspired by the NES and SNES ones! Also, it goes at it from a unique angle? And has two unique graphical styles?? And co-op???
If I, in my real waking life, could go to another planet with a bunch of cats and lead them towards living their best possible life?
I would, without hesitation. Despite how much I hate space.
But I can't, so I'm gonna play this.
BIG
BEEFY
MECHS
I have played every Rogue Squadron game and I have a hankerin' for new dog-fighting games like that. I am spiritually obligated to try this game and you are too probably
(Yes, I know Star Wars: Squadrons just came out. It's not the same, even though the name is close its more comparable to a new X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter game.)
If you can look at that second screenshot with the dog holding a knife in their mouth and not want to play this, then IDK why you are even here because our interests do not line up at all.
Fine, real explanation: turn-based and survival don't overlap much, and I like both of them. As such, I want to like this, which means I want to play this.
I'm a sucker for roguelikes. Also, Rami Ismail worked on it.
...
What? That's it, that's the reasoning!
"A game played sixty seconds at a time" combined with this wonderful black and white pixel-art is a solid elevator pitch
Someone once said to me that this game was "life changing" and honestly that's why I never played it; what game could live up to that praise? That person has since shown me their opinions are awful, and so I feel way more comfortable checking out this game, which I want to note has an absolutely *delightful* art style
It's Celeste. It's a magnificent platformer and story. It's beautiful and emotional. I already own this game elsewhere, but now I also own it here because its amazing and I need it
