Can anyone please walk me through? I'll tell you all the steps I did currently.

So of course I downloaded it.

Followed the instructions on the side of AssetForge documentation where it says importing Kenny's assets, and I did exactly everything. Put it in the collections folder and all, and this is what it shows up. I imported it as a OBJ out of FBX OBJ GLB. I put OBJ, renamed it and just slid it in there. For some reason, it shows up as this instead of the actual assets. Can anyone please help me?

I actually thought I had Deluxe, but I noticed today that I, in fact, did not, as I saw the "Upgrade to Deluxe" in the splash screen (its been a while since I've used AssetForge and am now looking to get back into it).

I clicked it, interested to upgrade, but I saw that there is no upgrade. I can buy Deluxe for the same price that it would cost if I didn't already own AssetForge. It seems a bit much to have to buy it again when its really the same thing with some more content.

Is there no way to upgrade by just paying the price difference or some other upgrade fee? I didn't find anything.

I can't select any of the blocks on top without rotating the camera and finding some point where the block on top doesn't overlap the ones underneath it.  If you have a lot of thinner blocks layered on top of each other then it becomes almost impossible to select things after a while. This has become a bigger problem on my latest project, as the base layer of blocks are a grid-based landscape that I need to stay visible for reference.  I was expecting that locking a block lower on the Y axis would fix this, but that's not the case. I know I can hide blocks, but as I said the blocks on the bottom layer are a grid layout and I need to be able to see them to build on top of them.

In other tools there are ways of cycling the selection of objects on top of each other, am I missing something here in Asset Forge that does that?

I see the website says it can export “various 3D formats including OBJ, FBX, DAE (Collada), STL and glTF” which suggests there may be others not mentioned in that brief list. I’m hoping to use the models in GDevelop, and the documentation specifically calls attention to the need for .glb models with textures included.

When I paint over a custom block of mine with a material in Asset Forge the texture looks like this.

And when I import into Godot the texture looks like this.

In Asset Forge if I set the texture mapping from triplanar to UV map the texture then becomes enlarged and warped.

Does anyone know what's going on and how I can work around this?

I've been using AssetForge to create simple models for my game, such as the example airplane seen in the image below:

Now, I would like players of my game to choose between different "skins" or "color schemes". So, for example, this airplane currently has a white/purple color scheme by default. In my game, I'd like them to be able to select another color pair combination. Examples could be white/orange, black/red, blue/yellow, etc etc etc etc.

I decided to ask this question here since the models are created in AssetForge, but I may try the Godot forums as well. Is there any way to easily access only the "purple" pieces of this model in a game engine such as Godot/Unity and selectively change their color to something else?

They provide the FBX or OBJ in their source files for each of thier packs so naturally I copied the OBJ files into ~/AF_2.0d/Collections/Synty and they appear in AF but with crazy scaling and a single white material. I've fixed the scaling issue using the meta.ini which was simple enough, however, the material problem has me stuck. Synty's source files don't include a MTL so this is obviously the root of the problem. However, they do include a Textures folder with a bunch of PNG files so this was the next logical step to try.
I imported the model into Blender and under Shading, I added the .png associated to the model then exported the model from Blender as an OBJ which also generated an associated MTL file. Great I thought, so I added these to a collection in AF, went to import and it appears fine with the correct material until I actually add it to the scene. The PNG tiles as the material as in the screen shots below, which is no more progress than I had before. Any thoughts or ideas to try next? I'm definitely out of my scope here.

This is the asset before I actually add it to the scene by left-clicking.

This is after I left click to add it to the scene.

When exporting, I'd ideally like to match the size of the models I create to the hex grid I'm using in my game. That hex grid is based on a hex "size" of 5m (where 5m is the distance from the centre of the hexagon to one of the vertices - you might sort of consider it the "radius" in a sense).

However, I don't know exactly what size the hexagons I'm using in Asset Forge are, so I can't select the correct scaling factor - I'm just using trial + error to arrive at something that seems close-ish every time.

Is there anywhere that specifies the size of the hexagonal grid? Or if not, does anyone know what it is?

In some instances, I don't want to scale a block due to its texture type/style and holding shift and adding one at a time is painfully slow if you want to make a larger scene.

Edit:

Well, I guess I found a small work around using the scripting engine. But, using it brought up other issues. One, the API documentation is unclear about the coordinate system used which caused me to have to test scripts until I figured it out. Two, this solution aint great because it requires me knowing exactly what size I want beforehand. Three, this is mostly my fault due to not reading thoroughly, but, the forge.getBlockType() says it "Returns currently selected block type as string, if multiple are selected returns the first entry." I ended up dealing with an index out of bounds issue because I thought the "selection" referenced was the block selection window on the left and not the world selection. But, it's actually the world selection. Again, yes, this is mostly my fault; but, it would be nice to have an API option that gets the selected block  from that menu too.

Edit2:

It would be nice to see what x, z coordinates the mouse is pointing at on the grid if only to help when writing a script that places blocks at given locations.

I searched the forum and found only one topic about this but sadly no comments or further discussion about the issue. Here is my wall, in asset forge these artifacts don't appear but in the game engine and runtime they appear and are kind of throwing me off. I spent hours trying to design something only to be faced with an aesthetic flaw that anyone would notice and would become kind of annoying if you have OCD lol.

Where should the texture go, especially if I don't want to have any path in the mtl (just the png file name)

Is there any way (except for exporting every model one by one separately) to obtain the original model files used in Asset Forge?

To add more custom blocks we have the ability to create folders in "Collections" and paste them there to use in Asset Forge, but what about the other way around if we would want to obtain files that are available in "Primitives" for example?

I would like to obtain every .OBJ and .MTL file that ships with Asset Forge by default, is there any other way to do this than exporting them one by one?

EDIT: This also counts for the default textures that are shipped with Asset Forge, for example i just noticed the "Stone" folder with textures has textures which you can not remove, change, or download - in this case i only would need to obtain them.
It would be great if we could remove / view / copy models and textures that ship with Asset Forge.
Perhaps the ability to rename 'custom1', 'custom2' materials also would be useful for some projects.   :)

Thanks in advance!

For instance, if you make a larger cube out of 8 cubes, it would be expected that the large cube would still only be made out of 12 tris and 8 verts, with no internal geometry. Instead of now having a cube with 96 tris & 64 verts.

Does asset forge do this?

i would like to automate my right mouse click and drag, so as to control the camera/view.

I am using autoit. and i can simulate the right mouse down button and move the cursor

but camera/view in asset forge doesn't move at all.

is there some lua code that could do this for me ? this would be a better solution.

thank you...

I just tried importing a model into Unity for the first time and everything went very smoothly except for some small artifacts that appear on my imported model. I used the export settings for Unity in Assetforge and I tried with both the Merge blocks setting off and on and the artifacts still appear. Any advice on how to easily cleanup the model?

Thanks!

I want to know if there's a proper way of creating semi-transparent objects in Asset Forge. If I create a model, export it to Unity, export the materials and then change the rendering mode to "Transparent", the object is not rendered correctly (see images below).

In Asset Forge:

https://itch.io/t/1390838/collider-issues-when-models-used-within-unityCollider issues when models used within Unityhttps://itch.io/t/1390838/collider-issues-when-models-used-within-unitySat, 15 May 2021 23:29:17 GMTSat, 15 May 2021 23:29:17 GMTSat, 15 May 2021 23:29:17 GMTHi, was hoping somebody could help shed some light on this issue.

It seems that when I import a model into Unity (in this case a sort of mini-golf course), no matter the export settings of the model, there are invisible walls between all of the tiles. Even if I merge the objects within asset forge and use a mesh collider it still seems to register microscopic gaps between each tile that cause objects to behave strangely when transitioning from one tile to the other (may leap into the air or stop completely for example).

Sorry if this sounds more like a Unity help request but I believe it may be caused by a slight bug with the merged tiles that seem to maintain small gaps even when they aren't supposed to.
