Skills -

  • Writing/Narrative Design - Been part of writers rooms for television for several years, a cameraman and I like taking apart themes within media
  • Game design - have been GMing Lancer for 3+ years and have been running multiple other RPGs as well, including One Ring, Wildsea, Pathfinder, Mothership, Cy_Borg, and more.
  • Proofreading/Testing - Board gamer, video gamer, reader of other peoples work. A lot of my own job is double checking others work so I'm proficient in both testing things and asking questions about the concepts.

Goals -

  • Being creative in a new medium. I'm a brain damage survivor and have recently gotten enough of the faculty back that I'd like to start practicing and pushing myself in a more open and creative way.  I've ran multiple different RPGs for multiple years and I've had a hand in both testing and trying a load. I want to be able to explore both my abilities and my future.
  • Meet people in the Lancer community and engage in it more. Due the whole brain thing its often hard for me to push myself a bit further so this is a good excuse to.
  • Make something cool.
Availability/TimeZone - Timezone is EST, currently.

Looking forwards to meeting and working with people. I'd love to join any group, otherwise I'll be working alone on this project.

Thanks

  • Discord Username: Minihawking (Same on pilotnet)
  • Skills:
    • Writer; have had flavor text published in tabletop games.
    • Artist: Can do full bodies of mechs and busts for humans, stylistically leaning towards medieval-esque art (ideal match for this would be a Karrakin-centered oneshot).
    • Game Design: Been GMing Lancer for a hot second so I can help with balancing encounters, have a few homebrew ideas in reserve, etc. Along with this, I'm credited for playtesting tabletop content that would later see commercial release.
  • Goals: A few different goals, honestly! It'd be neat to properly break into tabletop design spaces on a more thorough level, I enjoy telling various stories and narratives through Lancer, meeting other folks and bouncing ideas off one-another is a generally fun time, so on and so forth.
  • Availability/Time Zone: I should be free just about any day except Friday (at least not until 7 PM EST) or Sunday, but I will note: I am going to be heading out of country and visiting Japan from the 1st until the 14th, and thus my availability for the last few days of the jam will shift drastically. Ideally, I'll frontload as much work as possible (whether it be art, homebrew, flavor text, or something else) while I'm still easily reachable.

Skills -

  • Graphic design and print layout. Portfolio:  jonathancaridia.com/#design though a lot of that is quite old 😅 since I switched to UI a few years ago.
  • Secondary skills where I can act as sounding board or support/gap-filler but would prefer to not be the focus of my time:
    • Narrative design
    • Copy writing/editing
    • Game design - have been GMing Lancer for 3+ years so have a decent hold on the mechanics (though not so much encounter design since a lot of that was Wallflower) and have brewed a frame or 3.
    • Mech, character or prop/gear art

Goals -

  • Creative expression in a medium I like. Been inspired by recent TTRPGs that go hard on design and layout, like Cy_borg, Mothership and Cain, so it would be cool to try my hand at something like that.
  • Meeting and working with other cool creatives in the Lancer community :)
  • Little bit of cash never goes amiss if things go commercial, though a distant runner up to the first 2.

Availability/Time Zone - NZST. Decent overlap with PST, less so with American East coast, ~12h diff with Europe (which has worked fine in previous jams with clear roles and expectations). Don't know what our plans for Christmas/NY are yet but will closer to the time. I imagine I'll be unavailable for at least a couple of days, but so will many.

May be able to help out on multiple projects, but don't want to overburden myself during holiday period, so will be careful about my commitment at the time.

Keen to meet you and see what we all come up with :)

  • Discord username - ashofcreativity (also Gelatinous Rube on pilot.net)
  • Skills: TL;DR my main focus is making a ton of playable stuff in a day or two while I make sure it fits with your stuff as well.

    • Design documents (designer for the better part of a decade)
    • Quickly creating settings
    • Creating a high volume of narrative and combat encounters
    • Connecting encounters into a narrative or mission through-line
    • Authored branching narrative
    • Large suite of tools to fill skill gaps
    • Motion Graphics Artist
  • Goals: I want players to want more, ideally encourage them to start a campaign after finishing the one shot. If a group of randoms comes together, gets along, and has a great time, why shouldn't they keep going? I'd like to work on a one-shot that lays groundwork to be continued in campaign play :)
  • Availability/Time Zone: I'm most available Tuesdays and Fridays at any time. My timezone is CST. Paste this hammertime link into discord to see noon in my timezone: <t:1730656800:t>
  • While the contest hasn't begun yet or selected a theme, I've created a design document to obsess over in the meantime. Here's the jist of it:

Theme: the game FTL but set in a single system of planets

    1. I'd like it to have these overarching design goals:
      • takes place within a single, dense system (already generated)
      • showcases the usefulness of narrative play in accomplishing many goals quickly
      • Revolves around players trying to secure faction-level goals
      • Provides a ready-for-campaigning setting by the one-shot's end
I think the kind of team best suited for this one shot would:
      • contribute about 1-2 pages per teammate
      • add about 2 narrative encounters per teammate
      • be familiar with roguelikes or otherwise able to design similar encounter types
      • know how to write encounters that are easy for referees to staple together mid-session
