So, looking at modern profiles (that all seem to work, though I haven't tested much out) they look to be just text files.

I checked out the V1 profiles that were converted to V2 profiles, the ones here https://itch.io/t/208946/converted-v1-profiles and they are definitely not text files. They also don't seem to work in 3DSenVR 0.9.4.4. By not work I mean, if they go in the CustomProfiles directory they don't actually appear in 3DSen.

I checked out a normal V1 profile, they're not text files either. But I don't have any way to compare them beyond that.

So has the format changed past V2? And does that mean V2 profiles aren't compatible anymore? Is there a way to convert them to V3 or whatever we're on? Just trying to check out the old EB0 and RCR profiles.

I see some strange lines going through the background so I'm assuming those would be the tiles. Not really sure what I did wrong. It looks great and fully 3D in the videos I've watched.  Some of the other games I've tried do actually work perfectly though. (Metroid, Super Mario Brothers, Castlevania to be specific). Excitebike acted very similar to the Legend of Zelda as well. If anyone has experienced this and knows how to help me fix it, I would be forever in your debt!!

https://itch.io/t/185557/colorrendering-problem-macColor/Rendering Problem - Machttps://itch.io/t/185557/colorrendering-problem-macTue, 23 Jan 2018 04:00:35 GMTTue, 23 Jan 2018 04:00:35 GMTTue, 23 Jan 2018 04:00:35 GMTI just downloaded the Mac version of 3DNes 1.4.0 last night, but a major color/rendering problem is making it virtually unplayable.  A lot of the backgrounds & objects have the wrong colors or missing textures, and every animated sprite is just solid gray.  It's done this with every game I've tried (Mario/Duck Hunt, Mega Man, Super Dodge Ball, etc.), so I'm pretty sure the individual game is irrelevant.  I also downloaded a free game that uses Unity (Tailgunner) and it worked fine so I don't think it's an issue with my computer using Unity.  I don't know if this was an issue on earlier versions of 3DNes, and I couldn't find an earlier version to download to test it.

Computer - Mid-2011 21.5" iMac (2.8 GHz i7); OS - El Capitan (10.11.6); Video Card - AMD Radeon HD 6770M (512 MB)

I'm also running Sophos Anti-Virus, if that matters.  Here are a couple screenshots that show the issue:

Asking because i want to have the ability to have a tag be readable and to be able to read a number from the tag.

Example:

instead of doing

if shape:ContainsTag("Z30") then shape.Offset.z+=30 end

and making new tags in that vein for each microscopic change i might want to make, instead i want to tag something ZU60 and something else ZU30 and it'll add the 30 and 60 to each respective object as tagged. to do this i need to be able to read the tag that's being referenced at that moment, find the numbers in it, and then once i've been able to do that, convert the string number to an int number that i can then pass onto shape.Offset.z+=. but i can't read the tag that's referenced to do a string.match or string.find on it for numbers as far as i know unless it's undocumented.

if it's not possible to expose that tag to being read as a string whenever you invoke a shape:ContainsTag currently, may i humbly request that it be made possible since i assume in order to read the tag, you have to store the input for the ("") anyway and that it'd make it easier to do cleaner script code while also allowing for flexibility in tagging.

You may or may not have heard of RxNES.  It is an NES "Interpreter" ;)

It features 8x resolution sprite and background replacement with either .PNG images or .OBJ 3D Models :)

It has a built in c# compiler that compiles the main enhancement script and accessory scripts from text when you launch a game.

It has a Memory Search function with equals, does not equal, greater than, and less than search,   with ++, --. and FREEZE value functions.

It dumps the screen in "PyxelEdit" .pyxel format for editing within PyxelEdit (Paid Version) software.

With the custom c# scripts, examples have been made of "Custom Scrolling Backgrounds" and ".OGG Music Replacement".

It is based off of MyNES v7 :)

It runs in the Unity3D Game Engine :)

It's my baby, I based it off of MyNES and wrote the whole graphic replacement schemes and added the runtime c# compiler etc.

I have decided I would like to give you the current source code so you can cherry pick it / merge parts if you should like.
Parts could be the run-time C# compiler which allows users to code c# scripts just the same as with regular Unity3D and attach them to individual games / gameObjects. They can spawn GameObjects, AddComponents, Particle Emitters, Lights, anything C# and Unity3D compatible.

It has a .OBJ runtime 3D Model Loader that works with Multiple Materials and sub-meshes.

It knows where each BG Tile starts and ends, regardless of split scrolling tricks.

Sprites only collide into 1 graphic if they use the same palette, because each sprite palette gets its own framebuffer. However sometimes 2 sprites with the same pal pal up! doh!


it runs full speed, until you replace hundreds of graphics, then on my machine it starts to get a little slowdown.

I am tired of working on it for now and have always been in awe of how your 3D effect is a shader? It runs soo fast!

I would rather play 3DNES than continue working on RxNES, however I have grown used to and greatly enjoy:
- Runtime C# Compilation and Custom 'per Game Sub-Scripts .
- Custom .OBJ 3D Models (Does 3DNES already have this?)

It run-time compiles /Enhancements/(GameName)/-MyPackage-/RxEnhance.cs,
So I guess poke around in there first. There are also a couple other DEMO scripts there also run-time compiled..

Of specific interest may be the method I devised of pin pointing where each tile begins regardless of mid screen scroll changes.
This works off a separate frame-buffer called "dotBuffer". When a tile begins rendering it draws a pixel to dotBuffer, it's that simple!
(Yet took a few weeks to come up with :p)

However, I have noticed that the 3DNES emulator does not seem to recognize any input from either controller. After testing input both using the built-in input detector, and online detectors, it does register the different buttons being pressed, so I don't think that the issue is inherently with the controller itself. Is there a fix for this? I would even be fine with using another application to convert the inputs to signals that the emulator could detect, but I don't know of any. If it helps, the specific model I purchased can be found here on Amazon. Any help would be appreciated! (Note: It does not even detect input when trying to link the controller in the input menu, just saying 'press any controller button')

I'm wishing to edit the Gradius 3dn file, in a similar vein to my Metroid project, but while cleaning up some of the sprites, I noticed a linking issue with the Konami Logo. While trimming the black outline on the 'mi' section, I noticed that any changes would effect the 'ko' at the start, usually tearing through the sprite. I'm guessing this is due to one being a kind of inverted sprite, but in its current state I can't adjust it without issues occurring. I have attempted cloning, but this does not work either, since the black outline will still be present when overlaid. Is this something that could perhaps be solved with coding? It's a minor issue, but it's driving me crazy.Here is the default appearance of it in the editor, when I am attempting to make adjustments.

However, after these adjustments, this tearing occurs in the 'ko' section, which appear to be linked. I also noticed that the color index changes slightly, which makes me wonder if this is part of the issue. (As a side-note, this issue occurs even when merging the two into one sprite, or actually, they refuse to merge at all.)

When I set the mode to real as well, they seem to both turn into the same sprite, creating 'minami' as it were. Is there a way to fix this with coding? I'm not exactly an expert with coding, so any help would be appreciated!

plus i figure that i'd be harder to add a select tool into the existing editor than to add the possibility of trying to get the patterns into an external image file, edit them with existing software (paint.net/photoshop) and re-import them.

On my 3dn version, I have adjusted it so that missiles and energy are presented at an offset of z -25, so that it is not obscured by the background, and can cast a shadow over the background as well. Here is an example of it:

As can be seen here, it looks nice, and fits in rather well, however, there is an issue. Apparently, the missile icon, and the actual missile that Samus fires are identical, so the one she shoots is also located at z -25, which looks very strange, and can make it hard to see where you are firing if not looking dead on.

 

I honestly have no idea how to fix this, and am unsure what to do... I assume that this could be fixed using the script function, but my scripting skills are severely lacking. While I have very light experience with coding, I am completely stumped on how to go about doing this... (Even after consulting the scripting manual) Any help would be appreciated! 

Thankfully, this should be the only time that this problem should occur, as nothing else shows up in the 'HUD' besides the energy tank squares, which are not used anywhere else. So this should be a one-time thing.

Although having a freebie period would help promote the game through word of the mouth and websites may mention it making news of it spread further like wildfire.


The fact that I missed out on the $5 price is the main reason I don't feel like paying $15. I could have saved money. I take advantage of sales and only buy games on sale usallly at 75% off or higher. $5 seems to be close to 75% off of $15. So $5 is temping for this.

Now others can say they paid $5 and I would jus feel ashamed for mising out due to having an empty card.


Really like VR too. Can't believe I forgot about this fine piece of software. Been too distracted. No where did it say price was subject to change or I never saw it. New to Itch, anyway.

Having hopped onto the 3DNES scene recently, I have been developing a Metroid Plus version for this software, and have been separating different colors into different layers, to give a more layered 3D effect. This is done by making multiple copies, and stacking them up on each other. While the fill tool works nicely for some of the more simple objects, more complex ones can make process this rather time-consuming. 

Since I usually need to make three or four copies of an object for stacking, I often need to delete all but one color for each copy. This is where a potential 'color-replace' tool could cut my workload substantially, since I would only need a few clicks to delete all the other colors. (Somewhat like a more powerful fill tool, that just replaces all the pixels of that color, not just those connected to it) For example;

This is usually what a single copy looks beforehand, and I need to get rid of all except one color, in this case orange. Even if I use the fill tool on one green, I still have to click on every single chunk in order for it to disappear. With the replace tool, it would just allow faster editing for this sort of thing, making the original image turn into the image below in just four clicks. 

And with one copy for each color, it will eventually turn into something like this:

Overall, this replace tool would just make my development a whole lot easier, thanks for looking into it, and putting it on the to-do list Geod!

smb have some problem with black textures.

some part of shadows sticked with floor part so can't be edited without editing floor.


it is critical to editing the end of the stage (black background).

i think other roms which has black texture or shadows have this problem. they show some black particle or show nothing. 

do you have any tips?

1. Have HMD on with Vive controller, gamepad, and keyboard/mouse on and right next to me.

2. Start 3dnes from Vive desktop within HMD with Vive controller.

3. Switch to keyboard/mouse to load rom.

4. Switch to gamepad (I might also have to select it in input. It seems like the game will only default to gamepad if I save a 3dn with gamepad selected.)

5. If playing another game, switch back to keyboard/mouse and load it.

6. Switch back to gamepad.

Can you make the GUI usable with a Vive controller pointer within VR? I don't want to have to touch my keyboard/mouse at all. Is there a way to get the menu up without pressing escape? Like, waving my Vive pointer or pressing trigger could make it appear.

I got an email two days ago saying the new version of 3DNes was available for download, and that it now has VR capabilities. Consider my pants fully jizzed! I went out and bought the VR Cinema headset and downloaded Trinus VR to play 3DNes through the headset on my iPhone 6s plus.

Everything seemed to work fine on the surface. 3DNes started fine and loaded the games, Trinus streamed the content to my phone fine. But the actual image wasn't great. The center of the image looked fine, but then it got super blurry the further out it got to my peripherals. So, for Super Mario Bros, for example, I could see some of the center blocks crystal clear, but Mario was blurry near the bottom of my vision, and the score area at the top was basically unreadable. I could zoom the camera outward, but then it's all super small and not a great experience that way either.

So I guess my question is: Is there a recommended mobile headset that will play 3DNes games in a super clear, beautiful VR experience? Has anyone here had any success getting a great VR experience on their iPhone through a mobile headset?

I should mention that I have otherwise fine vision (I don't wear glasses), and that I played around with the settings of the headset to get the lenses as perfect as possible, and even played around with the settings in Trinus and 3DNes as much as possible, but nothing really seemed to help. I don't really know if it's something wrong I'm doing on my end, but after trying so many things to fix it, I'm suspecting that it may be an inherent problem with the headset.

I had to keep switching between monitor and Vive, keyboard/mouse and Vive controller to get a rom working. I got an Xbox 360 controller working, but I couldn't remap it, and it went back to keyboard when I restarted the program. Also, I had to change it to openvr mode every time I started it or loaded a new rom. Please, fix this. I want to put my Vive on, start the program from my desktop within the Vive, have it auto load into VR with all of my settings saved, and let me load a rom with either my Vive controller or Xbox controller. I want to then be able to load another rom with no hassle and no reconfiguring. Thank you.

So, here are some questions/issues I'm having:

1. When I start 3DNes, the GUI menu is always like 50% hidden off the bottom of my screen and I have to drag it up a bit to see the whole thing. Any way to fix this? Fyi, the native resolution of my monitor is 2560x1440; I'm wondering if maybe that has something to do with it?

2. How do I specify the window size? I've figured out I can click on the little directional arrow thing in the GUI menu, or press ctrl+f, to switch to windowed mode, but the size of the window is still giant, and is basically full-screen. I'd like a much smaller window to play on. How can I specify this so that it will start in windowed mode at a certain size each and every time?

3. I checked the 3DN repository but it seems there's nothing there... Where do I get 3DN files for my games?

4. Is there a "first person mode" available? I thought I read about this somewhere but so far have not found any hotkey that seems to enable it.

5. Why is this forum so quiet? I would think that there'd be much more activity shortly after this new release!

Edit: I see that there's a 3DN "V1" repository - are these files antiquated at this point? Why are there two separate repositories?

Also, is there a better way to search through the repository rather than clicking "next page" until I happen across the game that I'm looking for?

Thoughts?

I can move the cursor on the screen, but mouse clicks are not being detected. I restarted PC after install. After launching, it responded to one mouse click (quick load) but wouldn't respond to others. Relaunching, it wouldn't respond to any mouse clicks.

The built-in Split option worked (though without proper hardware I just had to leave it small and manually combine images with my eyes), and also using NVIDIA 3D Vision with the program generated a stereo image. HOWEVER, both the left and right image still seemed to be the same. I tried using the 3D Vision keys to increase depth, but all it did was increase the depth of the entire image, with the left and right images staying the same.

I went back to Split since it was easier to get a screenshot, and indeed could confirm left and right views matched by overlapping them in an image program.

Checking the manual I don't see anything that seems relevant, am I missing something? The closest might be the "Eye distance" option, though that's specifically for Trinus.

Upon loading a properly formatted rom, all that happens is a grey screen appears in place of the game, and the emulator restarts then reappears on the bottom task bar of my desktop, and thats all that happens. I've tried to perform various types of troubleshooting with little success, and am hoping to get some help here. Thanks!
