https://itch.io/t/387740/opinion-non-spell-attacks-are-too-weak-for-both-you-and-your-enemiesOpinion: Non-spell attacks are too weak, for both you and your enemieshttps://itch.io/t/387740/opinion-non-spell-attacks-are-too-weak-for-both-you-and-your-enemiesWed, 06 Feb 2019 18:41:32 GMTWed, 06 Feb 2019 18:41:32 GMTWed, 06 Feb 2019 18:41:32 GMT(Most of these impressions are from 0.73)

Maybe it's different for other players, but a lot of enemies seem to be both hard to hit or damage, and also have a hard time hitting or damaging me. I was playing a vigilante using a Xul katana and an energy shield, so maybe I was too weak and defensive, but from my impression everyone could stand to hit and deal damage more consistently.. Bandit spellcasters were very dangerous because they did lots of damage from a distance on occasion; the only comparable melee enemies were Kin Blademasters.

I would up leaning heavily on damage spells just because they reliably did damage with every cast. Juke, and later charge, often did no damage and seemed like a waste of stamina except for when I really needed the stun effect. Similarly bandit spellcasters were very dangerous for their damage but enemies with Juke weren't very threatening. The only comparable melee enemies I found were Kin Blademasters.

Another possibility is that I'm supposed to be super-duper mutated and achieve massive power that way, but I've yet to experiment with that. Radiation sounds bad in the abstract, and the existence of iodine pills suggests that I may want to avoid mutating entirely.

Ranged weapons seemed weak too, although I didn't develop the skill and it's possible that they're powerful with practice. I ended up accumulating hundreds of bullets, and I was really reluctant to shoot them all just to gain the skill.

A related concern is that the weapon damage dice don't seem to match up to their actual performance, so I'm not sure how to interpret them. At one point I had lucked into having an unusually powerful 3d1+2 (IIRC) freezing scalpel, and when it hit it would consistently deal ~10-12 damage instead of the expected 5 damage every time. I bought a greatsword for comparison, and it did less damage very consistently despite appearing to have better dice. It didn't seem like the scalpel was supposed to be an amazing item, because I found in it the first dungeon and it was only worth <$30 to a merchant.

Despite all this, I really like your game and I played both main factions' questlines as far as I could. Keep up the great work!

https://itch.io/t/301330/quick-first-impression-of-the-gameQuick first impression of the gamehttps://itch.io/t/301330/quick-first-impression-of-the-gameSat, 22 Sep 2018 12:41:46 GMTSat, 22 Sep 2018 12:41:46 GMTSat, 22 Sep 2018 12:41:46 GMTI had added this game to my "to play" collection based on the looks and because I like roguelikes. I only played a few minutes.

* The pixel graphics look very cool and attractive - I like also the font and ANSI colors, reminds me of my days playing MUDs

* Menu graphics are, however, incongruent with the rest of the graphical style - it does not feel like the same style at all. Sizes and layouts of menus do not seem to follow any structure

* I would really have liked to have started with a tutorial to learn the keys - had to look at the controls menu, which turned out to be really long and had to spend time hunting for how do I actually talk to the first character

* This is not objective but personal preference - I feel like I got too much lore in the beginning, I just wanted to start playing. Had to spend time reading the descriptions of items in my inventory, what that regeneration thing is, etc. Maybe again a tutorial where you acquire those things one-by-one would be helpful for this.

* Maybe a macOS thing, but there was no repeat on movement keys. Became annoying fast.

* Looking should be much more accessible. Maybe if the only way to interact with an object is looking at it, then interact would be the same as look. It felt annoying to have to hunt for the L key for such a mundane thing as looking at things.

* I gave up when I saw the staircase going into the basement - didnt want to go back to the huge controls screen to find out how to descend the stairway (I saw it was a separate key).

* Maybe I'm not the target audience as I'm a casual gamer but numpad keys to move diagonally seemed very intimidating having only a small laptop keyboard

I see a lot of effort has gone into this already - if you want to get more players, I'd focus more on making it easier to learn in the beginning.

https://itch.io/t/291939/my-evaluation-of-the-gameMy Evaluation of the gamehttps://itch.io/t/291939/my-evaluation-of-the-gameMon, 03 Sep 2018 12:39:17 GMTMon, 03 Sep 2018 12:39:17 GMTMon, 03 Sep 2018 12:39:17 GMTSo I found this game while browsing, There was a message about feedback so here I am. I'm writing this as I play the game. It can be long. Sorry for that before I start. :)

Main menu is nice, Though some relaxed style music could be better. Moving felt a bit fast but that could just be a style choice. Some buttons with little icons or shortcuts written on them could help. Inventory is easy to find for someone that played these types of games before but still necessary to reach a broader Audience.Oh and some kind of quickbar/toolbar to put pots and stuff could be cool. I couldn't kill the dungeon boss. That was bit hard. Map is really nice though. A lot of place to explore. Ambushes were interesting but I didn't realized the weather until I saw at message board at the bottom. Good game I liked it. I can see the potential.

That's what I think about the game and my suggestions. You can take the ones you like or leave it. It's your choice. Have a nice day :)

I thought of creating an autosave function with double(or more) slots. I know the autosave function was already suggested, but I don't know if it was implemented (on 0.53 it wasn't), still the idea that I'm proposing would need 2 or more autosave slots,  the 1st for the current place the player is, and the 2nd for the place he was previously. That way if the place the player triggers a bug and corrupt the data of the 1st slot, there will be a 2nd point to return.

I try to remember to save and reload to create a backup, but if I'm in a dungeon that causes the dungeon to be regenerated (which seems exploitable, incidentally). Would you consider adding an autosave feature?

but its also worrying with how sudden a burnout can come on a person who gives so much

so my suggestion is to remember to take a break every now and then, just relax, go have a walk, trow some bread or stones at some ducks, hell ... kick a puppy if you are into that or get a massage i dunno

just remember to take some you time, even if you think that making this is a hobby for you with how much you are doing it wouldn't surprise me if you had a burnout of this hobby anyway

and starting again after a burnout will be hard no matter how much of a break you got, so don't forget to take care of yourself

i am sure most of the players can wait a few extra days since they know this is your dream and you will be back anyway

Anyway I loved the game only big issue for me was the permadeath  I hate spending time on something only to lose everything anyway just a idea I mean I feel this game is kind of like caves of qud and I love that game since I can disable the permadeath so I would love to see that added sometime.

A few levels containing somewhat valuable runes from DCSS. Add races such as Ambertrites, Minotaurs, a few of your own, etc. for character setup in the beginning. Religions with benefits. Bosses like the king of Uruk hais at the bottom of a dungeon. Add towns with not just shops, but also houses with families, guard towers, town halls, streets, and the like.

It would be nice to be able to craft tools, build shelter, and the like.

https://itch.io/t/115790/two-suggestionsTwo suggestionshttps://itch.io/t/115790/two-suggestionsFri, 30 Jun 2017 01:47:39 GMTFri, 30 Jun 2017 01:47:39 GMTFri, 28 Jul 2017 09:02:37 GMTHey, really enjoying the game in its current state but I have two suggestions I think might make a big difference:

1. Carpal tunnel prevention: Nethack has a Shift+dir command that basically moves you in a given direction until you either hit something (including tunnel branch points) or encounter an enemy. Maybe consider including something like this? I've only been playing a couple hours and my right arm is already sore. (EDIT: Mouse move addresses this, I suppose, but keyboard shortcuts are always appreciated. :) )

2. Console access. I've played about five games already. I actually died in only one of them; three succumbed to crashes before I'd saved, and the fourth has the bug where there's a missing terminal in the abandoned power plant. It's pretty frustrating, to say the least; it'd be nice to enter a console command or two and earn the quest regardless. I know you probably don't want to include that kind of functionality in the final game, but in its current state I think this might be necessary.

In the character menu you can only see 6-7 traits, and my character has at least 20 (I built a mutant with 3 heads, wings, multiple arms/legs, a shell, etc.)

I want to recommend a scroll wheel or something so I can see all my traits/ mutations
