WARSIDES is a 2D arena for auto—battlers with elements of strategic planning and resource management. The players are involved in an endless confrontation of forces, where every decision made and every drop of blood shed determines the outcome of the battle.

Once in a thousand years, two portals open.… Life and death renew their union. Blood must be spilled until the gate is sealed again.

This mystical and ancient force, awakening once every thousand years, sets the tone for the dark aesthetic and endless conflict that underlie the game.

Main Features

1. Portals & Unit Generation

  • Active Portals: The game now features fully functional portals. These aren’t just static backgrounds—they spawn units and maintain their own health, visually represented by specific objects acting as life indicators.
  • Dynamic Unit Spawning: Units emerge from the portals and begin moving across the battlefield. Their appearance marks the dawn of active, real-time combat in WARSIDES.

2. Unit Interactions & Combat Mechanics

  • Real-Time Combat: Units engage in full interactions: attacking, taking damage, and eventually being destroyed. This has been implemented for realistic and dynamic skirmishes.
  • Diverse Unit Types: Each side currently commands three distinct unit types:
    • Two melee fighters,
    • One ranged attacker.

    Every unit comes with predefined statistics such as health, attack speed, damage, and movement speed, ensuring that each role on the battlefield feels distinct and impactful.

3. Player Control & Tactical Decision-Making

  • Direct Control of Allies: Players can now control allied units that emerge from the right side of the screen. Control is executed via an intuitive system:
    • Hover over a unit,
    • Click and hold to capture,
    • Drag and drop to reposition.

    A twist: if you hold a unit under the cursor for too long, it gets destroyed. This forces quick tactical decisions and injects an extra layer of challenge.

4. Blood Sphere System & Special Abilities

  • Resource Drops: Upon death, units now have a chance to drop a Blood Sphere. Picking these up boosts your team’s blood resource points.
  • Unlocking Special Abilities:
    • 10 Blood Spheres: Activate the "Rain" ability, which slows down enemy units for 15 seconds.
    • 20 Blood Spheres: Unleash the "Fog" ability, disarming enemy units for 15 seconds.
    • 30 Blood Spheres: Summon the "Warrior of Ruins," a fearsome entity that attacks all foes for 15 seconds.
  • Dynamic Enemy Evolution: Additionally, every Blood Sphere collected by the enemy decreases their spawn interval by 2.5% (starting from an initial 5-second interval), adding another strategic dimension to resource management on the battlefield.

5. Cinematic Intro

  • Splash Screen: An introductory cinematic now sets the stage, immersing players in the dark fantasy universe of WARSIDES from the very first moment.

Each of these systems is now implemented, laying the groundwork for an engaging, strategy-driven auto-battler experience. The interplay between unit control, resource management, and rapid decision-making promises to keep gameplay dynamic and exhilarating.
