At the end of the year, some very important projects in RL, for which I am responsible, came to an end. On the one hand, this has kept me very busy, but on the other hand it will give me a bit more freedom to continue working on my favorite projects from now on. I now have to work for two more weeks and will then be on vacation until mid-January. But I will be at home and use this time to work on the update.
What does that mean for you?
Firstly, it means that v0.4 will not be released at the beginning of the month as usual, but later. 100% still in December.
On the other hand, it means that I will have more time to work on the game afterwards. I will use this time to optimize some things and also to prepare v0.5 accordingly, so that there won't be a delay again.
By the way, I was able to overcome the rendering problems. I have optimized the critical scenes and at the same time adjusted the render settings in the program so that I only need 2 to max. 5 minutes for a render and the result still looks much better than the renders from v0.1, for example. If I find the time, I will run a few old renders again. But that's not a priority. I know you guys would rather get new content.
As for the current status:
Currently v0.4 already includes 90 finished renders. But there will be at least twice as many, more likely even three times as many (v0.3 hat ~220).
There are actually not that many lines of code written yet. Currently only 300 lines (v0.3 had about 1500 lines). But I have to say that I have outsourced some elements to other scripts, so that the 300 lines are pure v0.4 code. With v0.3, for example, I had to remove about 150 lines of code because they were only variable definitions and functions. However, this is not visible content for you, so I will no longer include this from now on.
Nevertheless there is still a lot of work to do.
