Introducing "SUNK"

Hey everyone! Following the success of Picture Perfect and Long Time No See, we’re excited to officially announce our next project: Sunk!

We’ve come a long way since releasing Long Time No See during last year’s Spooktober VN Jam, and we’ve learned so much since then. With this additional experience under our belt, we’re ready to take on this year’s Spooktober VN Jam with a bigger, more ambitious project.

In Sunk, you’ll follow Ballard and his sister Bree as they explore the quiet suburban town of Cedar Creek. When a sinkhole swallows their apartment building, they discover a century-old secret hidden beneath the town. Together, they’ll need to solve the mystery and face the forces that threaten to destroy the place they call “home”.

We want to really lean into building a spooky, cozy narrative-driven adventure. We love games that combine mystery, adventure, compelling story, and cozy autumn vibes. We’re taking lots of inspiration from games like Night in the Woods, Oxenfree, and similar character-driven games. We’re aiming to create a game that will be big enough for post-jam release, with 1-2 hours of gameplay and multiple branching paths.

One of the biggest things we’re focusing on this year is expanding the scope of our game. Long Time No See was a 30-minute (mostly) linear experience. This year, we specifically want to experiment with branching story paths and optional content. Our favorite narrative games are fantastic at making the world feel alive by filling it with interesting characters and interactions, and that’s exactly what we want to bring to Sunk.

To give you a sneak peek, we’ve got some early artwork to share, including sketches of Ballard and Bree and glimpses of the town itself! Be sure to follow us for updates, and mark your calendars for the release of the Spooktober Jam version on September 30th!

Until then, stay spooky! 👻 Incredulous Interactive (Ryan & Josh)
