Mysteria is out!

Its been a long time since my last post on here, but I'm happy to announce that my latest game, Mysteria, is finally done and published! Actually, its been out for over 5 months now, but I honestly forgot to make a blog post on it since I released it on Github pages instead of itch.io. Its the first game I've made using Godot, and honestly, I really like Godot compared to Unity. To be fair, I started developed Unity games in C# without knowing any OOP,  so I struggled a lot with figuring out really simple stuff, and often found myself in the dreaded "tutorial hell". For Godot though, not so much. It feels more intuitive to me, and I've also found it to be much easier to debug than Unity.  Also, I have a lot of experience in Python, which is very similar to GDScript, so I also feel a lot more comfortable when I open up the code editor.  Of course, there's still a lot more that I have to learn about Godot, but I'm fairly proud of Mysteria. I'll also mention that I did work with another friend on this game, so that also made development a lot more manageable. This game was made for a school competition on a decent time crunch, so it isn't as polished as I wish it was, but I'm satisfied nonetheless.

Unfortunately though, since Mysteria, I haven't actually worked on any new projects. It's not exactly that I've lost interest, but its just that life is getting busier and I just don't have as much time as I did before to sit down for a few hours a day and crank out a game. So I think whatever I decide to make next will be a lot smaller and simple. So I'm not quitting persay, but I will probably be spending less time on newer stuff. That's not to say that the quality of the games will go down - I wouldn't let myself do that. But do expect much smaller games in the future.

I've also been getting into pixel art, and for my next game I'm hoping to design most of the assets myself! I'm not a very good artist though, so please don't expect anything professional :P

Anyways, here's the link to Mysteria: https://zoaibs.github.io/Mysteria/
It might take a while to load initially, but the game itself runs pretty smoothly. Hopefully you'll notice the difference in quality from Mysteria compared to my first platformer, Project Dino.

I think in the future I'll probably keep putting my games on Itch instead of Github Pages though - I like to keep everything in one place. And I like the community aspect of Itch - like commenting stuff and these blog posts. Can't really do that stuff on Github. Also, it's pretty cool to see the analytics of my games, I'm a big numbers guy. I mean, its not like I'm planning to monetize my games anyways, but its cool to see that my games have over 200 plays combined! I know for sure that I haven't told 200 friends about my games, so that means some internet strangers have stumbled upon them (and are hopefully enjoying them.)

I think this post is already getting quite long, and I should probably stop typing while I'm at it. By the way, if you've stumbled upon this post, leave me a comment or something! I'll be happy to respond to whatever.

Peace!
