Hi all, it's been a while and I just wanna chat a little about what I want to work on next, what plans I have and things other than gamedev i've enjoyed.
So in terms of smaller games, I probably won't make many more (?) but who knows. I wanna focus my sights a little larger as a belief I have is when you get comfortable you stop getting better, I'm too comfortable making these tiny games so I really think going out of my comfort zone a little and making something ambitious for once and maybe over a long time is a good idea.
I might participate in game jams though as I recently made a game (Robofish Virtual Brain) as a submission to a small fish themed gamejam and had a lot of fun working on it.
Plans I have next is to either make a retro FPS with the GZDoom engine or to make a platformer of some sort.
I've been really enjoying the Wario Land series as well as Mischief Makers which is on the N64 (I picked up a cartridge last year and recently got around to playing it) so for the platformer, if I make it, will likely take heavy inspiration from both in a lot of ways. But I don't really want to make a Pizza Tower 2 or anything, I'd rather make something more unique and more geared to those who like a bit of casual fun like myself.
In terms of GZDoom game, I have very little in terms of ideas compared to the platformer but it's something I could totally do thanks to my recent dabbling with ZScript and Slade. My main issue is a lack of unique ideas for the game. I had the concept of some sort of parody of games like that but I found out that a couple games already have done the idea and to a high standard than just me alone could do.
I'm weary of burnout so I guess I'm also taking it easy, but for my silly neurodivergent brain, I'll bring a notebook around with me at all times for those spontaneous ideas when away from my computer.
I hope you like what's next and remember to follow me on social media if you like sneak peaks or random silly posts. Feel free to DM me on there too for specific questions!
I love you and bye <3
