Hello all, it has been too long since the last update, and for that, I'm sorry. I've been hard at work behind the scenes, but, unfortunatley, there was a setback that I encountered a few months back. I completely broke the game such that it would no longer compile. It was a combination of a lot of factors, and I wasn't able to salvage it right away. I had planned to start from scratch with another programming language, but, after playing around in GB Studio, I was able to fix things by switching the game to color mode.
After much deliberation and determination, I'm excited to officially announce (on itch) that Tales of Hyperia: The Crimson Knight will now be presented in full color (or a reasonable facsimile with the Gameboy). This is the only way to proceed using GB Studio and I think it's the best way to move forward, in general.
During this period, I didn't just stop at color. I redesigned all of the maps again to better showcase the color (and to make things clearer as to what they are). I also included rudimentary animations to add depth and immersion. But, that's enough of me talking about it. I'll show you what I've been up to. Below, you'll find some screenshots that offer a glimpse into the vibrant worlds and dynamic characters you'll encounter in Tales of Hyperia: The Crimson Knight (Note: These are not final images and are subject to change).
But wait, there's more! I've also prepared a special video showcasing the colorful landscapes, animations, bustling villages, and enchanting soundtrack that awaits you in Tales of Hyperia: The Crimson Knight. I hope this preview gets you as excited as I am about the direction the game is taking.
I'd like to extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your continued support and patience throughout this journey. Your feedback and enthusiasm drives me to create the best possible gaming experience, and I'm excited to share more updates with you in the near future.
Stay tuned for more exciting announcements, and thank you for being part of the Tales of Hyperia community.
See ya soon,
J-Town
