My First Game Post-Mortem: The Great Escape Game

Hello World! Jumping into game design has been a wild ride! My first project, "The Great Escape Game," taught me a lot, especially from reading Tracy Fullerton's Game Design Workshop.

What I Did:

  • Animations and Sounds: Added simple animations for the player character and sound effects for collecting coins to make the game feel more alive.
  • Enemies and Challenges: Included an enemy to dodge. Balancing this was tough but super important to keep the game fun and not too hard.

Lessons Learned:

  • More Custom Stuff: I used pre-made animations, but next time, I want to try making my own to see how they change the game feel.
  • Game Feel: Balancing how the game feels and plays is crucial. I learned it’s all about tweaking little things, like how high the player jumps.

Looking Ahead:

  •  I’ve got some ideas for adding more levels and maybe some power-ups to make the game even more exciting.
