Devlog #1 Pre-Production

We had a great start into the new semester for our “Auto-Shipping Solutions” game as we made a decent amount of progress over the last couple of days. During our daily meetings on Discord, I helped my team into adding tasks into the Jira board for what else needs to be completed. I also discussed about what our future tasks and deadlines will be for the upcoming weeks. This will help us keep a great pace for the completion of our project.

As the narrative and level designer for our team, I have assisted the team by coming up with simple storylines that our game can go with and have also made simple layouts on a Miro board for them to be later implemented inside the unity project itself. Additionally, our game designers: Todd and Jamie, added the boxes and robot into the layouts.

Additionally, my tasks are simple enough to finish, I have decided to make myself more useful by helping one of my teammates, Yanfei in making sounds for our project. I am currently enrolled in a course for sound design and with the skills and software I learn from that class will benefit me greatly into creating our own sound effects, ambient noises, and if possible simple soundtracks.

Based off our game’s current look, since it takes place in a factory where the player has to assemble different parts for a robot. It would make sense for me to include ambient sounds like the conveyor belt moving and steam coming out of the pipes. Along with some sound effects such as when the player grabs pieces and adjusts them into the robot.

Overall, we are making great progress within our project. And I am proud of the work I have been doing to help the team. I can’t wait to see what the final product will look like as we continue to put in more time and effort as the weeks go by.
